Is Vlad OP AF right now?

Curious Kat··6 votes·6,363 views

Kinda need to know in case i might want to play him.

I went against a Vlad earlier, well not against in lane, but he was against my teams top laner. Anyway, he was doing 800 damage with just his ultimate, then doing 600 damage a Q, and roughly 400 a charged up E.

So basically, he was 2 shotting everyone after Rumbles mentality of "i must keep dying and raging at my team" fed his ass.

I guess what i'm asking is, Is vlad normally that OP without being fed? I mean i was only half an item down, as well as only 1 level when he started to 1 shot our team... I wouldn't think that is a crazy enough lead to be 1 shot capable. Especially with unmissable abilities.

Vlad is far from OP.

You are throwing numbers at us without even telling what his stuff and yours were nor which level you were.

He is in top 5 midlaners arguably higher He is viable as a Toplaner

Yes that makes him OP

strut2 votes

Champion.gg lists him as 36/44 of midlaners with his 47 % winrate.

Poske1 votes

Lcs play lists him as Top 5 easy

Vlad historicly doesnt have that high winrate

there was a point in time where le bl had 45% winrate on champion gg while being strongest champion in the game with insane banrate

Top 5 midlaners atm Ori Syndra Vladimir Ryze Katarina

Zed,viktor and ahri are quite high to and you ll hear midlaners mention them if you ask them for top 5

strut2 votes

In lcs he is top 5 surely. But that's the lcs and not solo q. And those 2 are different worlds

Poske1 votes

and when did I say vlad is god tier in soloq ..

HE is though but probably not at your elo

strut1 votes

You didn't say you were talking about solo q. You simply entered a convo about regular play without saying that you are not talking about regular play. Also if you don't state that you are talking about lcs it won't be percieved that way. Gameplay boards most of the time mean general discussion not pro play specifically. If you don't say that it's the pros that you are talking about how should i know? Just clarify that he is god tier in pro play before making a statement like Vlad is a top 5 midlaner. If you generalise in the text nobody will know you mean lcs.

BTW Just checked op.gg for stats for elo and the only place he has a 50+ winrate is challenger. He is definitely better in higher divisions but far from OP.

Vlad gets stronger and stronger as the game goes on (until your team gets GW, then he plateaus).

He can be pretty oppressive if he gets even slightly ahead due to his unlimited sustain, but is susceptible to high burst and cc (especially silences), and obviously GW.

He's not inherently OP by any means, but is a solid pick. The reason he can sometimes steamroll in top lane is because he's more likely to face off against a melee champion, which allows him to harass with q (as it doesn't aggro minions) and out sustain almost anyone. However, he is very easy to gank if he pushes, since he has absolutely 0 built in mobility or hard cc.

Ah i see, well thanks all, i probably won't invest in him then xD i just was wondering, i haven't seen anybody do that kind of damage in a long time lmao.

Vlad is not necessarily op but he is returning slowly because of the current meta. Vlad is a really specific pick to Counter certain metas and due to his strong sustain and capability to drag fights out he can do decently well against the current focus of power which is essentially assassins and tank. BUT Vlads sustain Comes with a Price, early game you might not notice it since you max Q first and due to your low HP pool the difference wont be high but your E costs % max health which (i think so at least) scales with Skill lvl so later into the game when you have a lot of hp and somewhat high ap aswell you can drain hp out of the ass for lack of better words but if you spam your E constantly you could aswell become vurnerable and even weak for short term fights. Vlad Overall is a solid pick now for patch 7.6 and will be so for at least 3 patches is my personal opinion, but you Need to be very careful. vlad is the kinda champion whos average to pick up but hard to successfully Play off and he is VERY easy countered, all it really Needs is to bait your W into being used frequently and you are a found Piece of raw meat to any jungler with strong ganking powers like lee sin and kha zix who are both ridiculously polular rn

Vladimir is an extremely safe laner with one of the best ults for teamfighting in the game.

any champion that's ahead will do really high damage, the only difference is vlad is one of the few mages who get tanky and focus on his healing, which leaves him to vulnerabilities of half his kit costing nearly 30% of his hp to cast, and grievous wounds hurting him a lot more than other champs with sustain since his kit revolves around his healing. he's a real tough nut to crack as an ap mid/toplaner, but not to tricky as ad since you get access to Executioners calling for said grievous wounds to keep his healing in control since his short range means he has to be close to minion waves to farm, opening him up to any physical damaging spell to apply grievous wounds

Armvis1 votes

Executioner's calling is a thing, and he can be bursted pretty easily by an AD assassin. Just bait out the pool and you should be fine.

WoonStruck1 votes

Executioner's is not as good against Vlad, specifically early-mid game, as you think.

Hex/Phage, and especially both, does far, far more.

EC just holds you back. Its a win-more, if anything.

I recently made a post about it if you want a little more info.

Hyperiön1 votes

Executioners is essential a a vlad, swain voli, or any healer in general. You would be surprised how much better it is to deal with a wounded Vlad, than an unwounded vlad.

WoonStruck1 votes

Its essential later in the game. After your first completed item at the very least.

Grabbing it early is a waste.

I can almost guarantee I'm more familiar with this than you, considering I play Vlad almost exclusively.

I'm happy when people buy an early EC because it means they have lower pressure than they could have early-mid game.

Hyperiön1 votes

Well yeah, I wasn't meaning to buy it right off the bat. But as soon as team fights start, thats when you should grab it.

WoonStruck1 votes

Ahh. I was mostly referring to early game, since people tend to think its a laning counter.

Sorry for lack of clarity.

Hyperiön1 votes

Ah no prob. I always take ignite mid if I am up against a vlad. That way when he ults I can atleast negate of of that heal xD Vlads only weakness early game imo, is when someone can out dps through his sustain. IE Rumble for example.

Armvis1 votes

I like going for hexdrinker, yeah, but I also like fucking his lane sustain. It makes it so much easier.

WoonStruck1 votes

Well, Rumble beats Vlad, if that tells you anything.

You need MR vs Vlad. Having MR over him before he gets Void makes a world of difference. In most cases, he can't afford to build Void before 4th item.

JustJayson1 votes

Vlad is not OP at all. He is incredibly weak without items and practically has 0 kill potential until he completes at least a full item. I know that he does not have any skill shots really, so many people think he is easy to play, and after seeing pro's one shot people you need to realize that you need a lot of practice to pull off the combos with the spell rotations. He is more mechanically difficult than many realize

Calabok1 votes

he's OP . play him and suck blood to win

i think that vlad has a decently powerful early game. ik his cooldown might not be good but honesty his q passive just makes him so strong early. Just my opinion. like literally can take a 1/3 of a champs hp... but i guess thats for any champs? Im bronze tho, what do I know lol

jocomotion1 votes

He’s decent. Not trash tier, but not meta either, and unless something game breaking happens I doubt Riot will nerf/buff him since balancing him is pretty difficult already AND he’s in a decent spot. So play him since he’ll be pretty reliable for a long time.
