Just look at the history of the items in lol and you will see the discrepancy. The game has steadily shifted to rely more on base damage and scaling rather than item damage therefore tanks have steadily gotten stronger and due to recent attempts by riot to shorten game times , they have become more relevant as games are shorter adcs have fewer items , mid game focused mages are in the spotlight
