On Eve's Upcoming Rework
So Evelynn's getting reworked soonish, and I'm basically an Eve main, so I figured I'd make a post with my thoughts on it before the rework team likely has anything figured out.
First of all, Evelynn definitely needs a rework. I won't dispute that. The whole 100-0ing you from permastealth thing she does can't be fun to fight, and the fact that she's either way too strong or really weak indicates a bit of a problem with her kit. So, ability by ability, here's what I think should and shouldn't be changed:
Passive: Don't fuck with this, please. If you want to get rid of the mana regen or something, that's fine, but don't get rid of the permastealth.
Q: I'd like it if this were still spammable with no cast time, but honestly, I don't care too much. If it's made not spammable, but her kit is redesigned to be able to jungle well without Raptor cheese or even lane well, that'd be fine by me.
W: Don't make this a dash. Don't make any part of her kit a dash. I shouldn't have to explain why, and I really hope no one on the balance team needed me to say this. Other than that, do whatever the fuck.
Now, on to the things I actually want changed.
E: This singular move takes up, like, half of Eve's power budget. It scales 100% with AP and bonus AD, applies on-hit effects twice, resets her autoattack timer, and gives her a massive attack speed steroid. If this could be changed to something that's not this overloaded, that'd be great.
R: This would be the other half of Eve's power budget. A massive amount of current health damage, a giant slow, and a shield that lasts forever, on an ability that can hit enemies who could never have had a chance to see it coming? What could possibly go wrong? Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if her ult was the entirety of the reason for this rework.
Looking at individual abilities probably isn't the best thing to do, though, because even if you're changing just one ability, you have to make sure it still works with all the other ones and doesn't change the champion's identity.
Evelynn is really, really weird. She's basically just a mashup of scalings, steroids, and stats that don't really all fit together well, which has resulted in a champion with no optimal build path. Build her full AP and you're squishy and don't really use her auto reset, attack speed steroid, and good base AD. Build her like a bruiser and you wont be able to use her E and R to their full effectiveness, or take advantage of all the extra scalings she can get from AP items. Build her hybrid and you get the worst of each. You don't build enough AP to take advantage of the scaling she gets from items, and you'll be too squishy to really utilize the AD you get. And so on and so forth. But I'm not saying this is a bad thing. It's one of the best things about her, because it gives her the some of the most build variety of any champion. It allows her to adapt to anything. And to me, that's the best part of Eve (besides permastealth): the fact that she can build anything and make it work. So, if you're going to preserve one thing about current Eve, make it the permastealth, but if you're going to preserve two, make the second one her build variety. (Do make sure there's a actually a meaningful difference between builds, though. Kinda pointless otherwise)
