Since we are basically playing different game than the pros, why not balance them seperately?
There has always been a bit of a discrepancy between high level play and the rest of us, but it just gets worse the more snowballey the game gets in general. Since not much seems to be getting said about how the game seems to be at a peak of that, I think it's safe to assume its going to stay that way. Because of this, the powerhouse snowball late game champs that Riot refuses to nerf unless things get completely out of hand just take over an insane amount of ranked games.
We aren't pros. Even ignoring how much that matters from a gameplay standpoint, there are other important things to take into account. Most of the time we don't have the benefit of having teammates who communicate like decent human beings, if at all. Far too many random players do not understand what to do when they start losing lane, and will not listen to any form of attempting to get them to stop solo charging the 5/0 Riven/Vayne/Yi/etc. Nobody can make these people communicate properly, and nobody can force them to play safe, so maybe its time to save things like Vayne buffs for the upper tiers of play where the pool of players is much more likely to play smart and work together like a team. Letting these champs snowball into complete insanity is not good for anything. Absolutely nobody has fun when they play a safe game and make it past laning phase without dying much, only to get blown out of the universe by a hyper fed champ who's build/exp is completely beyond reason. The way the game is now, even if you win your lane rather decisively, odds are the hyperfed top laner or adc is still going to make you look afk-level underfed the instant they show up.
Maybe one day when Riot finally gets a handle on the community, we won't have to worry so much about this, but considering how it's only gotten worse over time, I wouldn't expect that anytime soon. There are so many people who instantly flip out and rage or grief the second anyone has the slightest hint of 'telling them what to do', so there's no way to even fix the problem once you're stuck with it. You either sit there and watch them die over and over again knowing nobody on your team will get that many kills that fast, or you try and ask them to play safe which causes them to explode in rage, leave the game, or just blindly engage even more. There is no way to win in this case unless you are extremely lucky and get one of the rare people who will actually see team chat as something that can help strategically.
Since the general idea of 'they killed my teammates across the map so much that nobody can stop them now' isn't going anywhere anytime soon, why not just let the top offenders be a little weaker until you hit ranks where random players actually start working together. Or maybe stop giving the 6/0 champ so much gold for killing the same person over and over again, or something else, I'm sure there are plenty of possible solutions I haven't thought of. In a recent video from Riot, they even admitted that you should play selfishly because you don't know if your teammates will be worth supporting. Is this really the kind of game you want? Everyone plays laning phase like a crazy berzerker hoping to get so fed they can single handedly win a 10 man game? Should that even be possible under the most extreme circumstances in a game that is supposed to be so focused on balanced matches? If the top snowballers were brought more in line, people might feel like they need to learn champs that rely on their team a little. In a team game, this seems like a much more optimal way to do things than have everyone go team deathmatch until someone gets enough kills to take over everything by themselves.
