Why does Lux's E need to take up so much space

It seems every time she tosses out a E it takes up 1/3 of the lane and the fact that she can pop it before landing is very annoying to play against. Also could the red lines around her E be more visible I swear I can barely see them and makes it so much harder to dodge it.
