@Riot Draggles What about an advanced Snake Draft?
The Snake Draft you presented was a 1-2-2-2-2-1 banphase. What if we shorten it to: 2-3-3-2 or a 2-3-2-2-1?
For anyone interested heres the /Dev with all the informations needed.
Advantages:
- alot faster
- there is no "last person", who could feel to be forced to ban a certain champ. There are always atleast two!
- strategic depth is still preserved
Cons:
- blue team only sees 3 (not 4) bans before their final ban
- red has 2 bans while seeing 5 bans (not just 1 ban)
##Extras
Implement the "Intended ban", for coordination and to free the last persons from beeing "forced" to ban something. But theres still the balance between "I dont want to face"- ban and a "best strategic decision"- ban. The last pick/bans will always have this "problem", which I personally see as an oppertunity to have strategic depth and not as a "problem".
Everyone in 1 phase should ban at the same time (to further shorten the time spent pregame). This will be made possible because of the "intended ban", so coordination happens BEFORE they need to ban already! If wanted, we can extend the time by a couple seconds to make coordination a bit less stressed, if something goes wrong (~5-10 sec/phase).
Special extra: To smoothen out role swaping, show the 1st picked role as a tiny icon, so we know eachothers 1st liked role so we can swap more easily if necessary. (And we can fix "mistakes" by the system ourselfs alot easiler/faster, like mid main got jungle and jungle main got mid).
Another bansystem could be 2-3-2-2-1, but the site who has the first ban isnt first pick. (not like our current first ban= first pick system). This could be also changed to 1-3-3-2-1. Its not as short, but is more "equal". (Last ban sees 5 bans, the 2 2nd last bans see 4 bans of the opponent)
Thanks for the attention!
