Marc Merrill, not a leader.

Did you all read this?

Long, rambling of excuses. Ask yourself, does this person sound like a good leader? Ask yourself this: If you had a lot of money invested with Riot, would what he wrote give you confidence of his ability to forward think and adapt? If i had money invested in this company, I would be worried that this clown is going to drive it into the fucking ground. League of Legends came at the right time, and they made tons of money. They are responsible for exactly ONE game. And yet, despite that, and their billion dollar revenue, they have managed to suck bad enough to piss off a lot of players at all levels of play.

The fact that he even had to write that tells you there is a problem.

I know now why League sucks, which I have suspected all along. Bad leadership, probably due to overly inflated ego's bolstered from the games success which, lets be honest, is mostly just circumstance--right place right time kinda thing.

League is going to be no more within a couple of years.

Before you down vote, read his blog.

This bit was funny though:

League of Legends is a competitive game focused on core gamers. Unless our Chinese overlords slay me and Ryze (or we leave), this will continue to be the case (and even then will still likely be the case - it is deeply ingrained).

It's funny because it shows again that he's not really that out of touch with the playerbase and the memes and phrases we use to describe things, and he's not even afraid to 'tempt fate' that the chinese overlords might hear and get mad.

You should be aware that money is not synonymous with perfect solutions or good decisions. Nor does it mean you have all the information you'll ever need right off the bat.

There is literally nothing you can do to deal with a shortage in player supply. It is a resource you ALWAYS have to work with and around, and as Riot admitted in the round table video (that people like to just ignore), they learned new information ABOUT that supply after they made lofty promises. You can scream and stamp your feet all you want, but them's the breaks, kids. Riot can't alter reality.

Yes Im sure how that explains how they implement dumbfuck changes only to roll them back a month later after everyone in the community is like, this is stupid wtf were you thinking. Somehow the players can recognize, INSTANTLY, bad changes...yet Riot, who is supposed to analyze, somehow cant see it.

Because they do actually know better than a few thousand kids on Reddit stamping their feet. They are working with the goal of providing whats best for millions and millions of players, and if that has to piss off the tiny population of passionate hardcore players who post on the forums for a little while in the meantime then Riot is willing to take that heat and roll with it while they work on the the best solution they can figure out.

If 1% of players leave over this but the experience of the rest increases by 10% in quality after a year or two of tweaking the queue system, thats a tradeoff any responsible company would make.

A tiny poplution? So Marc Merrill blogged all of that for a few thousand whining kids? You are making huge assumptions. You are assuming the number is small to further your own argument. When posts on the board gets 10k views about a problem with league, you think its ONLY the 10k who care about it or think its a problem? OR MAYBE for every one person who views a post on a board or comments, he or she represents a lot more players who feel the same way but just don't bother with the boards.

So, nice try, but your thinking is about as good as Marc Merrill's--completely detached from reality.

He posts blogs occasionally about various things as a way to vent. It's not an official riot post on the website, its off on his personal blog that you'd have to know about to even look for if it wasn't spread on reddit.

League is for all intents and purposes his game as much as anyone can claim that. Of course he would still feel the need to put his thoughts and feelings out there if a bunch of people are visibly upset, even if that number is relatively small.

And it is small. I wish we didn't have dynamic queue as well, that doesn't mean I'm going to be ignorant about the fact that we are vastly in the minority. Most people either don't care, aren't aware, or care more about playing ranked with friends.

I dont even care about the dynamic queue issue.

My issue is that they consistently make bad decisions.

There is a problem in the company with leadership, or processes.

It keeps happening.

Season 6 is awful.
