Riots new form of counterplay
"don't get in range to get hit"
Remember to take cleanse against MAlz too.

Everyone gets a stopwatch, so everyone has counterplay! Problem solved! :D - Riot
Whoever added this is an idiot.
I'd love to see the process, "let's add a mini zhonyas anyone can get LOL HURRRRR"
Watching LCS you see 4-5 on every fucking team. It's still not removed.

Have you seen that video of the team fight that lasted a few minutes and every single person was saved by a stopwatch?
Yes, and its silly that instead of reasonably making towers dangerous to dive we just made stopwatch to make it safe for you. Not only do you get a kill, but you get to deny the enemy the kill too.
I remember a time when every fight could last a few minutes. . .

Yeah. Me too friend. Me too.
Gotta love Pink Ward buying Zhonyas AND Stopwatch on Shaco. Such a troll
The problem is it's availability for free on Runes. So of course everybody is going to take it, it's super gold efficient.
It's not like pre-sight is 20-20 like hindsight is.

Development is a complicated process, it's not as simple as that.
Just because you're pissed about things (and rightfully so) does not give you the right to treat other people like garbage.
The Devs at Riot are human just like you and I are. I'm sure that you wouldn't want your colleagues to point at you and say "LOL HURRRR" when you make mistakes. Show a little common decency.
You do realize you just contradicted the entire existence of boards? You do know that before all of this shit, EVERYONE AND THEIR MOTHER wanted an ADC Zhonya's like item? Do you now realize why Riot didn't want more specialized Zhonyas for everyone? One time use Zhonya's bridged this gap and i can agree that it is too strong since everyone is taking it.
But the timing can simply be pushed to 10 minutes as with the Magical Footwear rune. Zhonya's users won't mind that much since it does come with a perk of 300 less gold and 15% CDR on Zhonya's while regular users would feel extra the 4 minutes of prep time.
This game has WAY TOO MANY "get out of jail free cards."
Adding stopwatch was flat out stupidity.
What they need to do is reduce damage across the board, not add moronic idiocy like mini-zhonyas that doesn't address the problem, but exacerbate it by allowing the bursty champions a free escape.

The stopwatch was probably added to prevent early game tower dives, but unfortunately they made it so junglers and assassins can also abuse this item. If they removed the item as a component for Guardians it would probably fix the problem.

And stoneplate and hourglass? And masteries?
Fuck countless times I've failed a play because I didn't remember Sivir or Riven can now Zhonyas.
hehe
Can't get close without two shotted, can't get close because of ulti that clears all minions at all points past level 6.
Dont forget the mana item powerspike. Wow nice damage anivia wp : ).
It honestly feels like Riot is just grasping at straws to try to balance the game after runes reforged. A lot of impulsive decisions, very little forethought. Just desperation move after desperation move when it comes to recent balance changes.
In frantically and impulsively trying to make things better, they just continue to make things exponentially worse.
Well I can answer this one for you. There is a strong belief that the ability to take damage ruins the game. So instead of allowing anyone to take damage and survive they allow noone.
So when a tank gets called op because their damage is too high for their beefyness they nerf their TANK stats. Now we are left with a shell of a game that is "I outplayed you by oneshotting you first"
In a perfect world, tanks would be largely unkillable, and largely ignorable aside from their CC. The only reason you'd focus a tank is because they're stopping your team from accomplishing their goals - IE killing people. Not because they're a HUGE damage threat.
In an ideal world, you'd be telling your team "Walk past him. get past him. don't focus him, focus the high value targets. You're playing right into his hands!"
In our world, its more like "HOLY SHIT KILL THE TANK, KILLL THE TANKKK!! HE'S MURDERING EVERYONE!!!"
Tanks, in any real strategy game, are there to distract and disrupt. That's their job. That's their ONLY job.
Tanks in league of legends function as basically another carry, except they're a carry that can take more than one shot to the face before blowing up - making them somtimes even MORE valuable than the ACTUAL carries.

I think you're delusional or mistaken. Tanks in strategy and action games alike are very often battle tanks, which are used in _real life _military to punch through fortifications and frontlines with their large caliber cannon. That is the evolution of modern warfare. Thats the beauty of the birth of the gasoline and diesel engine: Instead of lugging a large caliber cannon with the men exposed to war elements while trying to break through the trenches of world war 1, the British devised a metaphorical mechanized iron turtle outfitted with diverse armament coupled with several millimeters of riveted steel plate that had the engine doing the heavy lifting. Not only was this effective, but it changed the way war was fought forever.
But for some reason when a video game genre called a MOBA came out, people started to really confuse the integrity of the word "tank" with some sticky meatshield abomination, instead of a deasil driven, heavily-armored siege weapon- the antithesis of fortifications.
Tank has had a special meaning in gaming long before MOBAs were a thing. They were generally useful in holding aggro from bosses and surviving the blows while their squishy dps teammates whittled that boss down in relative safety.
Proving your point:

"Tank" as a term for a meatshield is actually just a general term in video games, and has existed for a while. It honestly doesn't make any sense though, compared to the real thing; the real thing is not only hard to kill but also capable of being quite the threat, and required that you have special weaponry to even take it out.
For the longest time video games have referred to the durable disruption bots that don't hurt as "tanks" when really it makes no sense.
Riot had 2-3 good years (season 3-5) where they started reworking and removing all the cancer from the game, all the point and click crowd control & one shot non sense (assassins had crowd control back then, kassadin, talon, leblanc etc all had silence, fiora with her one shot R button, stuff like veigar R, anivia E, annie R, zilean Q got changed, taric, sion etc with their point and click stun got reworked), but somewhere in season 6 they stopped doing that and now we are back in the dark age of LoL, with the chogath, malzahar, syndra, rengar revert, leblanc revert, camille release with broken point and click spells and other one shot garbage, and all those point blank crowd control skill shot spells that last an eternity (with the new zoe E as the cherry on top).
The real question is how long this dark period is going to last before they get their sh:t together again, if ever.
Cleanse doesn't work against malz
There are some players in damn gold 2 who would take cleanse against malz. Like, even if it DID cleanse his ult off. His damn SILENCE prohibits you to even use summoner spells damn sake.
Fun fact: Teleport and Flash are the only two summoners you can't use while silenced. Everything else is fair game.
Really? Well this is something new here...thanks
I thought that it was counter picking instead of counter play now.
Oh I'm sorry, but I'm pretty sure riot said "we don't want you to lose in champ select".
Hopefully we could get a rioter in here for clarification.

They did? Hub never heard them say it. Need clarification indeed.
What Riot says and what Riot does are two fundamentally different things.
btw the cleanse thing is a meme in some regions it wasn't serious just letting you know.
"New" This is how counterplay used to be for most champions If anything that'd be defined as the old counterplay
"don't get in range to get hit"
That's called kiting, and is a very effective form of counterplay in many situations.
Except that adc's stand still. Its not kiting if they are a mobile nexus turret.
Except that adc's stand still.
I think a word is missing from that statement....
Excuse me, but calling them a Nexus Turret is an insult, they're more like a B-52 Bomber. Nexus Turrets are literally free wards that, Pew Pew Pew.
You can't kite point and click. No matter how much you orb walk or zig zag, a Ryze W will ALWAYS hit.
That's called kiting, and is a very effective form of counterplay in many situations.
Which is crazy considering when talking about getting in range to get hit is usually talking about a RANGED champion's damage range, who oddly are the ones that can kite with impunity against the scary ol' melee bruisers that'd kill your cat for just ONE damage opportunity that isn't innately tied to their only escape ability being used.
That's called kiting, and is a very effective form of counterplay in many situations.
Not when they are faster lol
Say hello to katarina, she has 2 blinks that give her damage and bonus move speed along with her flash which is a 3rd.
I said some not all....
I thought that it was counter picking instead of counter play now.

No you didn't.
hmmmm... can't tell if trolling or illiterate.

I quoted you word for word, fam, you can go be stupid somewhere else now.
"many situations"
What the fuck do you not see? many =/= all, don't accuse him of being stupid.
