Malzahar Revert when?

Hi all,

So I, like many others, am looking forward to Riot doing something with Malzahar. I honestly believe the current meta has been, at least in part, caused by the numerous nerfs to Malzahar. I'm not talking about the ones in Season 8, those were a nail in his coffin, but then that champion was never the Malzahar most of us fell in love with. I mean the rework (2016) that removed AD Malzahar and the mini rework (2017) that changed him from a control mage into a spam mage. And I think Riot know this as well as most others do.

So I'm wonder when you think they'll change him? Vote below!

In this current meta, I'm surprised he isn't used bot because of his ability to mana sustain and wave clear mid game. Sure, he doesnt have much killing power, but most supports can do that anyhow nowadays.

Having said that, his voidlings die too easily now: I believe his current iteration would be great if they made Voidlings tougher in exchange for a shorter duration that is dependent on Malefic Visions (like maybe it gets extended by 0.25 seconds against minions with visions, quadrupled against champions with visions). He also has no presence outside of cc and pushing power, but not sure how you'd fix that.

His mana sustain is bad until around lv 5-7 in which case he would already have Lost Chapter or Tear.

Also... Is 8-10 seconds minus travel time from 21 seconds not short enough for you? lol

His mana sustain is all about CS'ing. While this can be done with a duo partner (I've tried this both as an APC and a support with a friend and found him as APC and Xerath as his support works best) co-ordinating this is far more difficult if you aren't on coms with your duo laner.

The current iteration doesn't need to be tougher, it needs to be removed. All it did was make them more spammable. They have a MUCH shorter CD now, and the charges gained to make up for lowering their lifecycle, damage, speed and tankiness. Sadly these are the things that MADE malz able to deal with hypermobile hypercarries.

Pre/post 2016 rework: Malzahar "If you want to farm you go into the minion wave." Opponent "Ok!" Malefic visions pings onto Opponent Malzahar spawns voidlings Opponent "Die you little fuckers" loses 1/3-1/2 of their hp before running like hell Malzahar "You won't make that mistake again will you?"

Post 2017 changes Malzahar "If you want to farm you go into the minion wave." Opponent "Ok!" Malefic visions pings onto Opponent Malzahar spawns voidlings Opponent "Die you little fuckers" Pokes voidlings with stick, takes 10% HP damage from both Voildings and Malefic Visions and continues to CS Malzahar "But my lore says people afraid of these things!"

Added to this riot have also nerfed his Q damage and silence duration, nerfed his E damage and ping range, nerfed his ult damage and CD, nerfed his "new" passive, and even taken a go at his mana and AA range. So on the whole they've nerfed every aspect of Malzahar since the 2016 rework while also taking away his keystone and first buy item.

Wow that turned into a bit of a rant...sorry xD

Eh... Idk...

A lot of people complain about Malzahar and want him to get nerfed into oblivion.

But I think people forgot that pre-rework Malzahar was one of those champions strong enough to keep the likes of Katarina Leblanc Talon Yasuo Zed in check by forcing them to play at his pace during the laning phase...

This is true. Even post 2016 rework he was a counter for most of them. IT was the S7 changes to voidlings that REALLY stopped this because rather then having to run from the damage the voidlings could throw down, they now just 1 shot them while killing Malz.

Hopefully a revert can help bring the meta back under control a bit.
