Frozen Mallet Needs A Buff

It's a very niche item that you rarely ever see. It is easily outclassed by item 3116 because it has a superior visual effect. If item 3022 had the same effect, it would be 100000000% better and purchased more often.

Not sure if serious or kappa.

I think Frozen Mallet isn't popular because it has an awful build path (Jarum's Fist + Ruby Crystal + Pickaxe).

My proposal:

Jarum's Fist (1200g) +** Bilgewater Cutlass** (1650g) + 250g = 3100g (Total Cost)

600 Health 40 Attack Damage

UNIQUE Icy - Basic attacks apply a 40% slow for 1.5 seconds on hit. UNIQUE Omnivore - Instantly heal for 15% of all physical damage dealt. 5% for area-of-effect abilities.

UNIQUE Active - Toss the Mallet at an enemy, dealing 150 (+15% AD) physical damage and slowing the target by 40% for 2.5 seconds. While this is on cooldown, you no longer benefit from Icy. 700 Range. 30 second cooldown.

This would do a few things. One, it would make Frozen Mallet exclusive with both Death's Dance and Hextech Gunblade. Frozen Mallet would become the tankier version, favorable on champions, mostly Fighters and Juggernauts, who want extra sticking power or CC at the cost of some damage (Frozen Mallet only has 40 AD), and would help them sustain in fights. Death's Dance would remain for those who want more physical damage, and Hextech Gunblade for those who want hybrid damage.

It also presents and interesting decision for the user. Do you use the active to reach the target, or do you not use it, so Icy still allows your basic attacks to slow?

All frozen mallet needs is to apply on physical damage.

40% for single target/AAs 1.5 second (30% for ranged) 30% for 1 second from AoE 20% for 1 second from DoT/Multi-hit/Summons

An item is outclassed due to a visual effect instead of its stats? That's the first time I've ever read that statement. Please don't be so silly. XD

Isn't this item often described as a "Win More" item, as in, an item you only get when you are already done with most of your build and are already winning the game anyway? It doesn't exactly do anything great, the health boost is nice but there are items that do it better, the damage is just not great and the slow is just nice to have.

There are items that give better protection, there are items that give better offense, and there are items that are in between that do both better then Frozen Mallet. It's just not a good item on its own and its never a good idea to rush it as a core item, but it works really well when you are already ahead and want to stay ahead a little longer while preventing enemies from running away.

Which is why you probably hardly ever see it. Games are either over so fast there is no need for it or people want better items that do a specific job really well. Plus its terrible on ADC's and Mages and Assasins no matter what, so you'll never see them with it. It's pretty much just for fighters.

(But I'm all for it getting a better visual effect... If I could remember what it currently looked like. So +1 for you I guess. XD )
