The last two champions (Illaoi and Jhin) both have quotes of disgust towards Rek'Sai. I really don't want this to become a common thing for new champions. Riot, please show more love for my burrowing void baby. 
They're just jealous because Rek'sai is #1

Illaoi hates all voids so using her is a bad example and if I remember correctly that jhin quote is only on his skins
The last two champions also had the same primary writer from Narrative, who also worked on Tahm Kench and Rek'Sai's.
So yeah, I think it's ok.
Rek sai is even a female further more hurting rek sai :/
A lot of new champions seem to enjoy making fun of Varus too.
You forgot to mention every champion and their mother has at least two references for KataGaren since Tahm came out...
