RIOT Logic: "Hey, remember that 45.12% Winrate Support? Lets nerf him"

Raoul··1 votes·960 views

Honestly, WTF?

Rakans Shield gets a 40 point base nerf... It was literally the only ability he had to help out his allies... Oh yeah, he got buffed too... to do more damage... exactly what a support wants, 20 more damage on the high CD engage spell...

Yeah, the Q buff is kinda nice, but it doesnt make up for losing the shield power.

HEll, that guy cant even reach a freaking 50% Winrate, he is the second worse support, only beaten by MISS FORTUNE SUPPORT! And you NERF his support power? What the hell is wrong with you?

"Rakan Support has a win rate 46.54% for Platinum+ players whilst the very best Rakan's are earning a win rate of 59.55% with the average rank of these top players being in Diamond III. " from lolalytics

So nearly a 60% winrate on the best players. Seems pretty spicy to me.

Yeah, you know what? I have a 100% Winrate with Support Annie this Season.

I mean, hey, I only played her once, but still, 100% Winrate! Lets nerf the shit out of Annie.

Sadly you cant see the summoner who has this winrate, but I guarantee you he has no more than 10 - 15 games with Rakan

In order to be considered one of the best players on a champ according to lolalytics, you need to be both diamond+ and have 50+ games played on the champion.

edit: It's also not one summoner, it's all of them who fit that criteria.

That guy also has a 61% Winrate on Bard... so.... nerf Bard?

So, 2 weeks, later, his top winrate went down to 51% and his average Winrate went down to 45%, still think he deserves that nerf and his low winrate is only because he was new?

Yes his best players are still absurd.

As more high ranked players who casually play the champ reach lolalytics criteria for being a 'top' rakan (as in 50+ games) it'll be dragged down a bit. The changes aren't necessarily a strict nerf to rakan anyway, but more of a power shift. There also lots of noise in support win rates with all the support starting items getting tweaked and players adjusting to those. (I find it interesting that amongst all those players I linked, theres people who start with each of the starting items on rakan, instead of it always being coin or always being spelltheif or whatever.)

It's entirely plausible that his low winrate is due to a lack of expert players

That could maybe excuse a 49% winrate, but not freaking 45%...

honestly, even URGOT beats him...

No one has much practice on the dude

He is not even hard to play. I get that guy, and I am surely not the best player, so he cant be that hard to play.

People say the same thing about Yasuo. Sure he's easy as fuck, but he has a high skill cap. Rakan just came out and we're not even sure if he has a skill cap because there are no real expert Rakan players.

So how do they justify nerfing his shield? New or not, at 45% Winrate he is CLEARLY not OP or anyting.

I mean... normaly a support champion has around 50% winrate no matter what. Nearly all Champions who have a below 50% winrate in the support role are gimmik Supports like Miss Fortune, who is only picked to counter Zyra in LCS but since she was picked in LCS, shes also picked by solo queue supports who dont ahve any idea why shes picked in LCS.

100 range is a pretty significant buff for an ability that grants sustain base on levels rather then ranks in skill. I would bet his win rate will rise with this.

But thats also the weakness, the heal isnt even significant until Lategame.

OP is dumb.

High skillfloor/skillcap champion that nobody mains yet has a low winrate %. This is expected.

Ivern had a similarly low winrate when he was released, and even after his bug fixes. Rakan is disgustingly strong and will be complained about on the forum incessantly once people get used to his kit.

This wasn't in the patch 7.9 notes.

Are you referring to PBE?
