A few balancing ideas for Riven, if anyone is interested.
Riven is one of those champions who with the introduction of new items could use early game tweaking still in my opinion. I love the champion, And I wouldn't want anyone to burn her into the ground. But touching on her health I feel was a bit too cautious. Here are my suggestions for Riven adjustments this season to make her a healthy top lane pick that doesn't dominate the level 1-6 scene quite so hard. (Remember Jayce E. R.I.P. Jayce)
-
Revert the health changes. Riven is a tanky fighter that deserves health and health regen at early levels. A fighter should have health on his/her side.
-
Make Riven's W have lower stun duration at earlier ranks, scaling into the game. Allowing tenacity to be built as counterplay.
-
Make Riven's E have a scaling distance, which would allow for an even slightly longer range at max range, but inhibiting her Q damage should she choose to opt for more mobility as the game progresses.
-
Make her shield scale slightly less better, pushing more damage into her stun or allowing her to access more mobility options through a slightly enhanced Q or E range. The shield is a bit of icing on the cake. Tower diving was something we tried to adjust for in S3. That was the whole point of changing the entire mechanics of towers, was it not? :P
I'd like to hear feedback from the community, Alot of people have recognized Riven as being an unhealthy or even downright Toxic champion in the past, and not alot has been done to touch her up outside of a very cautious change to her health/regen. I would ilke to see her actual kit be addressed. Pumping out non-stop damage items, granting tankiness, mobility, and more often than not, very little counterplay options in the laning phase...Just isn't a very healthy playstyle for any champ.
