How does ARAM work

I asked my friend about the Legend Of The Poro King mode because It sounded like fun, and all he said was "It's ARAM but with poros" and then left. So what is ARAM? I've never done that mode before. I wanted ask the boards rather than jump in without anyone explaining and get yelled at for sucking.

In ARAM all players are randomly given a champion from their available pool (including free rotation). Playing ARAM matches earns you points so that you can occasionally reroll what you have, and you can also trade your champion with an ally as usual.

The map is Howling Abyss, which is a single lane that has a few bushes on the sides. Once you leave the spawn area you can't shop, so you must buy items when you die (not dying is not always a good thing, dying at the right time is strategic) and it doesn't heal you either, nor can you recall (though the animation will now play).

The mode focuses on team fighting since there's only one lane, and there is no jungle. In Legend of the Poro King you get to choose your champion instead of randomly I think, and your Summoner Spells are only Poro Toss and To the King. They are easy and fun modes.

I recommend trying out some ARAM; you may love it! (Disclaimer: It may sometimes be frustrating due to the random nature, as sometimes you lose very badly in champ select)

It gives everyone a random champion based on who you own and who is free that week. You also play on a smaller map with only one lane, basically the tutorial map. And you cant go back to heal or buy until you die.

All Random All Mid

So all players are given random champions based on their champion pool, and all are put in one lane 5v5 on the Howling Abyss map.

ARAM is 10 people, one lane, no recalls. Basically a joke game mode that got elevated by riot, it is a more easy, casual mode than SR or TTL, as it requires almost no strategy outside basic teamwork.

Poro king differs in that your summoner spells are locked in to two special spells, and you can pick a champion instead of getting a random one.

Follow up on what the two below/above said (Not sure how it will read).

The thing about ARAM is it lets you learn how to team fight and learn champions/champion abilities.

Back in the day I was a silver scrub that would go from S5 to S1 and never get anywhere. Played a ton (metaphorically but it WAS 2k games-ish) of ARAM while being fed up with ranked and learned champions well enough (cool down times of their abiltiies and what they did in general). After 800 games in Silver, I went from Silver 5 to G1 within 120~. Now I'm a diamond scrublord who one tricks Heimerdinger.
