Is Blade of the Ruined King truly stronger than Gunblade on top Nidalee?

I have been thinking about this, and I have made a thread on GD and it died.

Pros for Gunblade:

  • Gunblade has ~130% gold efficiency compared to ~80% of the BoTRK. (Passive and actives not included)
  • The 65 AP alone adds over 250 damage to her all in burst
  • Gunblade provides 20 more AD for Nidalee's all in
  • All stats that Gunblade provide are efficient with Nidalee's kit
  • Longer and stronger slow, active deals more damage against targets with less than 2.2k HP
  • 2% More lifesteal
  • Provides higher stats for AoE abilities for waveclear
  • Provides 20 extra damage per auto towards a turret

Retorts:

  • Majority of BoTRK's value is in the passive, which is not included
  • Calculation is based off of a near max range spear
  • BoTRK provides 40% attack speed
  • Wave clear AoE spells only heal for 1/3, which is the majority of Nid's reliable damage
  • BoTRK provides a 10% MS gap through stealing
  • Passive could trigger the same, if not more healing from it's 10% lifesteal
  • Provides more attack speed for harass
  • Provides attack speed for towers

The only logic I hear about going BoTRK over Gunblade is having the extra ability to kite, but does Nid need it? Typically you will have either the extra MS from Trinity Force or will have a slow with Iceborne Gauntlet, not even including her two MS buffing passives.

I also feel the attack speed isn't needed at all on Nid after laning phase, and that having both 65 AP and 20 more AD would be a much more efficient stat for her.

One more point, people said in my GD thread that Spellvamp is a wasted stat on her, that is not the case. Nid would heal more off of the 20% Spellvamp than even the 12% Lifesteal.

You've got the issue figured out. If poking your opponent heavily with auto attacks isn't your thing and you'd rather go right in for the kill Gunblade is a fine item. It's all personal preference.

You should consider that BotrK heals her (active), gives her movespeed (active), an deals physical damage equal to a percentage of the enemies hp (passive and active). Percentage health damage gets stronger as the game goes on, but flat damage gets weaker as the game goes on.

The attack speed and active of BotrK also helps her duel better and take towers quicker, which is much more usefull than straight burst when, since she is usually played as a split-pusher.

It depends on if you need her to be more of a roaming assassin or a splitpusher. The attack speed from BOTRK will help you take down turrets more quickly (especially when paired with a Triforce), and the bonus health back from the active makes escaping from a collapse much easier when you're pushed up in enemy territory. However, while it decreases the effectiveness of your AA poke, the Gunblade will buff pretty much all of your abilities in human and cougar form, giving you more teamfight presence and allowing you to 100-0 squishies easier in 1v1s. Same thing as everyone else has been saying, it's personal preference. Personally I go with the BOTRK, as her splitpushing is extremely effective and it allows you to completely shove out your opponent no matter who they are (assuming the laning phase goes long enough).

Think of it like this.

Bork is good against High Health and Tanky enemies HTGB is good against Everything else.
