Give east coast players an advantage since we have to deal with crippling ping.

I have played on high Diamond on NA and LAN (if you think my s4/s3 Diamond wasn't legit... then my s2 Diamond should suffice).

Even though in LAN the skill of players are worse, having a ping drop from 135 to 37 is massive. Not only is CSing, animation canceling, dodging skillshots, hitting skillshots, and walljumps are all easier... it also makes the game much smoother and fun.

I understand you are either too lazy or greedy to give us a viable server, but the least you can do is even out the playing field in some way.

Take a look at this image: http://i.imgur.com/5OCTGvh.jpg

From both a personal experience, and from information that is available, it is obvious that if you live on the west coast... you have an advantage.

You cannot call yourself a competitive game until the majority of your population isn't struggling with third world pings.

Give us a gold advantage, or add a turn rate onto west coast players.

(BTW LoL in China has 27 servers across just that single country)

You really don't understand how this stuff works, do you...

Not only is it a TERRIBLE idea (lets make everyone have less fun, so we don't have to be alone!) , but it would be virtually impossible to even implement into the game.

Ruining the game feel for the entire other side of the continent is not how anyone with half a brain would address this problem.

I saw them talk about this but is it ever happening? Maybe s5? Im about to hit gold and in now way do I blame my high 95-110 ping for being low elo, Im just curious to see if it would actually make a big difference in my play with lower ping.

If you are going to use stats, use recent stats, not all time.

In the past month, the average ping for challengers is 67 ping. And seeing that there are so many challengers who are pro players living in CA, there must be people above that line with ~100 ping who have made it into challenger to even out the average to 67.

I understand it sucks having a small amount of extra ping, but it is not holding anyone back from being challenger if they are good enough.

I wish I could downvote this to infinity just because of that statement. you realize how ignorant that is? you realize that riot is working, and has said CONSTANTLY that they are working, towards fixing this problem, and yet you people act like they are sitting back laughing. just as bad, you act as if their entire staff is responsible for working on this problem. they have various teams for various projects, it would take a god to have all the knowledge and skill to do everything that their company does alone.

and btw, 100 ping is not bad. 200+ ping is bad. I play with between 60-140 ping every game (below that is unheard of here so don't act like its something everyone has) and I don't have problems almost at all. you remember when they used to show the ping of everyone in loading? you remember how 100 was still in the green? you know why that is? because its really not bad. I will listen to people complain about stuff like this when they play games with 2 fps (and yes I have had to do that, got a quadrakill the last time).

raging aside, (sry im just pissed that this is all ive been seeing for the past couple weeks) just be patient, its not like they aren't working on it. and don't act like theyre just lazy, horrible people because you aren't getting what you want yet.

I don't understand the toxicity in this thread. Honestly all the East Coast players are asking for is Equality. Would you pick a handicap if you had the choice between on or not? You can get to challenger or wherever you want no matter where you live (Give or take if you are trying to play on NA from EU or something haha) but still why would anyone want a disadvantage in a competitive game? All I am saying is that there should be a server on the East Coast to compensate. It isn't an obscene proposition. I don't feel Riot is greedy or anything of the sort I just would like to point out that for the past few years they have been trying to address the issue from their end in Cali when just adding an East Coast server would solve most of the issues.

This is the single most stupid idea ive ever heard. Anything under 100 ping is no delay btw, so 80 and 30 is pretty much no different. Stop feeling entitled to shit.

Beartic10/7/2014, 8:13:49 PM3 votes

That feeling when you can't hit a ryze q,w, or e at max range cuz they are in range on you screen but by the time it regisers they are out of range. same with bork, i can never use bork with 120 ping. they are always out of range

I am a player who is Gold 5 and living in Florida. I exist at 120 ping roughly.
Sure, 12/100ths of a second is "nothing"... however you forget how this whole thing works.
Server says "oh thing coming at you" (120ms) you recognize and start to move (200ms?) the server recognizes that you moved (120ms)

so... that little ping makes your response time about half a second... compared to Mr. West Coast with 30 ping... who can respond in quarter of a second.

BlazinHot610/9/2014, 12:04:43 PM2 votes

Everyone here is entitled to their opinion on this server issue. Personally, I refuse to buy RP from Riot until my ping is below 80ms. I have a serious gaming PC and 35MB/s internet connection, so the issue falls on them. Im also as far east as you can get in the continental US.

Charrend10/7/2014, 9:16:31 PM2 votes

Oh I guess you're unbanned now huh.

On that note, I agree completely, 120-150 ping constantly is a big issue.

D1rtFarmer10/8/2014, 11:37:27 AM2 votes

So for all those claiming this is an excuse to play poorly. Is that graph a coincidence? Just so happens the better your connection the higher your rank?... thats like playing call of duty with lag. Not to mention.. If you're getting beat by somebody of equal skill level And their reaction time is crippled by a delay. Perhaps You should be making excuses about your skill level. Only winning cause you play handicapped opponents.. sounds Interesting

inb4 someone links that thing Commando Yi posted on GD proving that Riot are the opposite of greedy.

I'm in central US with 106 ping all the time. There's no reason a gaming server for NA should be on the west coast. That's a terrible idea. There needs to be a server in central US, somewhere like Dallas, TX. This would make the most fair pings for the most of NA. It's better to have east and west coast players with an average of 80 ping and central players with lets say a 45 ping average than to screw over the central and east coast players. This will bring the overall combined ping down by a considerable amount for each match instead of giving all advantages to west side players and gradually disadvantaging players as you get further east. No location will be perfect for everyone, as ping != distance.. but putting the server in a location central to the players is a basic concept I figured RIOT would understand. Why isn't this taken care of, despite the game being out for so many years and being so popular?
