Sounds to me that they're making the arm pen build have a more clearly defined trade off.

Except even the arm pen build builds a little crit eventually. If anything, it solidifies the arm pen build because it has a late game now.

But it won't mean much if he's not building a lot of crit.

He doesn't need a lot of crit for it to massively improve the damage of his ult. All this is going to do is encourage a crit item or two along with the item 3142 item 3071 he picks up.

Oh wait...he already picks up item 3046 item 3031 in a lot of cases after his core. Forgot to mention that.

All this does is buff his late game with the new build.

While nerfing is early game.

Nerfs to a champion's early dominance go a long way to limiting their power at all stages of the game, as their snowball becomes less reliable.

It hardly touches his early game.

His ult isn't what makes him powerful at all. It can still be used for waveclear which is still its most consistent use.

His ult is a fringe benefit at most. Its hardly necessary for him to be successful, unlike Graves, Kindred, etc.

It's a response to the whole Black Cleaver + Youmu's build becoming so dominant, as none of that has crit and so the build will do less damage. Likely this is an early draft, so I'd keep an eye out for further nerfs in the next cycles - perhaps to the ratio, or further nerfs to the base damage.

and to begin with lucian before the Koreans did the Koreans lucian build his playrate was still around 50% but his win rate without the korean lucian build was in the low 46% and 45%

slightly Less damage early more damage late Though the base nerf could be a little bit larger.

No he needs a nerf on his ability to stack cleaver and him rushing pen because his base damage is stupid high with his passive.

Again Riot is missing the mark on the nerfs, I assume they don't actually test these changes before going out.

Yeah, I was looking at this and thought this looked good until I saw the numbers. Probably needs lower damage at later ranks so you need more crit items.

This buff change is stupid because item 3142 item 3071 are for AD casters. They are suppose to make AD abilities strong. Crits are for AAs. This change is a nerf to Lucian ult when he builds armor pen while buffing his Crit usage on his ult.

Crits are for AAs, not abilities.

Assuming first item Infinity Edge or Ghostblade, Ghostblade will in general cases still make his ult deal more total damage than Infinity Edge assuming exactly 20% of the shots are crits.

Ghostblade's just a good item for Lucian because it boosts his Q and ult in addition to his autos, the CDR is great for him, AND it offers better turret-taking due to armor pen and the active AS.

Cleaver's still going to be strong too because the HP complements Lucian's lesser AA range, the CDR goes well with Ghostblade's, the Rage passive only adds to his mobility, and he just stacks the thing so easily due to both his passive and ult.

This is barely a nerf to anything. Ghostblade's myriad of benefits and consistent power will still make it the better item, so Korean Lucian won't be going anywhere. Especially since he can now scale harder into the late game.
