Saying youre being held hostage in a game you agreed to should be a bannable offense.

While I disagree one point because "lost game" has no real definition, I do wish that they would allow it at 3/2 instead of 4/1. If majority of the people want to play on, then that should be how it is. But it is ridiculous when most of the people want out already but get stuck because of 2 trolls.

Yes because anyone who doesn't want to surrender is a troll...

When it's 17/4 and your team already lost 5 turrets and the enemy has their outer towers almost intact not surrendering is clearly trolling.

No. They're not. As I said below, some people just ENJOY PLAYING THE GAME whether they're winning or losing. As a result, they see no reason to want to play LESS of the game.

Other people see an 'impossible game' as an opportunity to practice things like defensive play and defensive vision control, stalling, etc. Skills that are hard to practice.

Other people simply don't believe in surrendering and want to play each game through to the end.

None of the above are 'trolling'.

Some do, but most people would rather leave an unwinnable game

I don't see how they can only practice those kinds of things in lost games

{quoted} Other people simply don't believe in surrendering and want to play each game through to the end.

And those same people couldn't care less about other players in a team game.

If your first point were true, we wouldn't be having this discussion because surrender votes would be succeeding.

You can't practice defensive vision control in a winning game because you're not on the defensive - so you need offensive vision control. You can't practice playing around a strong enemy carry in a winning game because the enemy likely doesn't have a strong carry. You can't practice stalling for lategame in a winning game because it's detrimental to you winning the game(since you don't WANT to stall). These are skills that are only useful in games where you're behind, and thus can only be practiced when you're behind.

Those other people clearly don't care about THEM, so I guess what goes around comes around?

They are, but you also get the occasional "SURRENDER IS FOR NOOBS" players that just don't know when a game is lost

{quoted} You can't practice defensive vision control in a winning game

But you can on a neutral game

{quoted} You can't practice stalling for lategame in a winning game because it's detrimental to you winning the game

The only time you want to do that is when you have a Nasus or a Veigar in your team

I genuinely believe surrendering slows your ability to get better at the game. The more time you spend playing, and the more you're willing to accept that you're going to lose nearly half your games, so you might as well get what value you can out of those losses, the more you'll improve. This applies to any game with a matchmaking system attached.

So no, it's not about not knowing when a game is lost, it's about not CARING that the game is lost. It's about appreciating the game: the winning, the losing, the fighting, the strategy, the whole package.

Personally speaking here, I have never voted yes on a surrender and I never will. Not because I 'can't tell when a game is lost' or because I'm trolling, but because I enjoy the time spent in the game, and my goal when I play games like this is ALWAYS to improve as a player - not to win. If I improve as a player, the wins will come in time. And playing out losses helps me improve as a player. So it is genuinely valuable to me to lose. And surrendering is GIVING UP the value that time gives me.

If you're on enough of a defensive during a neutral game so as to get 'defensive vision practice', then you're not actually in a neutral game - you just haven't realized you're losing yet.

There are lots of late-game champs and team comps who are going to turn on at 25-30 minutes who you could stall for, especially if the enemy's using an early game comp.

But, judging by your responses, you're just one of those people who is addicted to the game but can't admit they actually hate it... and thus get bitter if anything goes even the slightest bit not your way and just wants the game over. As a result, there's not really any point in explaining all this to you, as you won't actually listen to a word I say.

No, I get bitter when one of my teammates goes 0/10/2 but still refuses to surrender

And all of what you said would be true. If we weren't this season where if you are losing it means that the enemies can pretty much instakill you, and I don't know how you find this fun, but I don't. At all.

Just a suggestion... If you don't enjoy a game, find another game to play for a while. Eventually, the desire to play this will probably come back, and when it does LoL will be waiting for you.

It's a game - play it if you're having fun, take a break if you're not. Then you can come back to the game refreshed and have fun with it again.

the amount of games i have played where people keep trying to surrender but theres another one along with me who believes... we try and try and we pull a comeback as a team in the end .... if it were up to me i wouldnt have a surrender at all

WoodenCreature3 votes

I talk about the absolutely hopeless games ofc i wont just give up if we are down 5 kills or down just 2 towers. i talk about the 10 min stomps where u are smthing like 20 to 5 kills in 15 mins. no one can win a game with so big of a deficit on the 15-20 min mark thats how the game works those days really quick snowballs.

And people saying "ff" when they give first blood as their "Yasuo main account that is a diamond 1 smurf" should also be banned

Eleshakai2 votes

Not everyone agrees with you when a game is lost, and not everyone believes lost games are a bad thing. Some people take 'lost games' as an opportunity to learn, or enjoy playing games in difficult situations.

Surrender votes are a vote. Each player has one entry to say 'I want to play this game more'. If enough say 'no', then the game ends. If enough say 'yes', it continues. It's not 'holding hostage', it's a disagreement.

Those days u don't just lose some games u just get completely humiliated by the enemy team ppl here seem to not make a big difference between a close game and getting steamrolled completely

Eleshakai1 votes

Again, it's a vote. If the vote fails, then that means not enough people want the game to end. Maybe. in stead of complaining about being 'forced to play the game' you should learn to not get so upset during losses. Learn to have fun with the game, even when losing. Get into the habit of practicing defensive play, warding, etc. during those losing games. It'll make you a better player long-term than raging about how you're being forced to play the game when you opted in to exactly that.

I do agree that any game CAN have a comeback, sometimes your team is just too tilted or just too set on just fighting and not catching up to make that comeback. Sometimes surrendering is best IMO

S0kaX1 votes

I think there should be a system where if there is a difference of at least 20 kills and 5 turrets at any time the game automatically ends the game.

FOR JUSTICE2 votes

tbh if everyone on the enemy team is 5/0, but they only took down 5 turrets its winnable on the basis that theyre just dumb.

any legitimate player would have won by then, lol

saying "ff15" at 8 minutes should be a bannable offence.

Inkling Commando1 votes

trying to call a surrender should be reportable (it counts as grieving and giving up). i've seen mid lane get bulldozed and my team makes a comeback by getting bot lane while they not looking. there is a very simple solution to games where you are "held hostage" just leave the game. just cause you dont like it doesn't mean others don't like it as well.

WoodenCreature1 votes

Some games are winnable but others u just simply cannot be won why it's so hard for some people to realize that?

I feel you, and again, this is a direct result of the free damage from runes.
