Giving Udyr Some Love

As someone who plays quite a bit of udyr, i feel as if he has really fallen off the meta and has not being a very strong pick for quite some time since feral first was introduced. I dont feel he needs huge buffs persay but i feel some changes to him would be really nice. He can be so fed yet is so prone to kiting its absolutely crazy. I feel like sometimes i have to burn flash just to get to somebody. Ive actually been playing him top lane lately as i feel its more effective. I think maybe his bear stance can give him a tenacity bonus for a passive to make it so he cant just be crazy kited by players like ashe or whatever because he doesnt have a gap close like almost all other junglers. It gets to the point where they have no magic damage and i still have to build merc treads. I dont think his damage needs an increase at all, just some love for his ganking and no gap closers at all for a jungler is really tough.

the way you build him is really weird.

the triforce makes sense. as far as boots go, you should have gone mercs instead of swifities, if you feel like youre getting kited too much. the bork is debatable against that team. none of your opponents is particularly tanky. reksai might build some defense, the rest looks relatively squishy.

and what was the bf sword for?

bottom line is. you picked udyr into ashe. you didnt build a lot of defense to account for the fact that you cant get in range and need to survive until your team deals with her and you can move again.

she didnt have armor pen except for runes and masteries and their team was generally rather heavy on ad. so building towards frozen heart instead of the bf sword, or maybe gauntlet for the slow field instead of triforce to stick would have gone a long way.

the thing is, you probably did what everyone in bronze and silver does. build damage, and try to dive the carry, even if youre getting walled off completely every time.

here is the kick. if you cant reach the adc, build defensive and use your bear stance stuns and gauntlet slow fields to peel for whoever is trying to dive YOUR adc instead. youre gonna do something actually useful this way.

I think Udyr is pretty balanced. He has TONS of versatility since he can do AD or AP damage, great defense, CC, and MS buffs. Build Cinderhulk on him and it takes forever to kill the guy.
