Why Do Vets Want Rewards Just for Playing Long?

Straight forward question. This isnt just about League, i have seen it in a few other online games recently and the idea still seems ridiculous to me.

I have been a veteran of other games. New expansions, items, etc come out that hchange the game. I dont think i ever complained about it. I mean as a vet you are already well ahead of most other plywrs in the game, i have the ability to farm for what i need or just play the game for fun while others try to catch up. I have seen vets saying they dont want new players to have free hand outs. I guess because i have never been one the rich 1% but i cant imagine being against giving all players rewards to reduce grinding. Who cares if your item is worth a lottle less, it doesnt mean anythting. This is an online game made for fun not for bragging or profit.

I want my game to live for a long time. I would much rather grow tired of the game than be forced to retire the game because the game stopped evolving. And yes the community is important, the most critical factor even, but being a long time player has its perks already and if you are asking for benefits just because you played more you are indeed being greedy. We all play this game for some form of fun. I want this game to continue being fun, to that end we need both vets and new players. And i think some of the vets have been putting on a very bad show recently.
