I'm trapped in low ELO where Master Yi reigns supreme. No team I have is coordinated and the Yi always gets fed. Should I just ban him or buy him and play botlane (I can't jungle)?
I feel like there's nothing I can really do. I've gotten stomped by a fed Yi every time I've decided I wanted to play a champ that can't beat him alone, which is every champ barring like Vayne with a wall or Fiora.
Why is Master Yi stomping you but does not stomp diamond, master and challenger players?

Yi is easy to beat, but only if your teamcomp is well thought out and your team is coordinated.

Telling your jungler "Hey (B2 jungler) I'd really appreciate it if you went Lee Sin and invaded that Yi!" is unlikely to win you many games.
Similarly, your top laner will likely not respond well to your requests that they pick Shen.
You can either ban him or take it upon yourself to counter him. You can achieve this mainly in top, mid and jungle (last of which you don't seem to play).
Do not depend on your team for hard CC and ensure the CC you pick is guaranteed to land. If not pick someone who can pop him with a targeted execute (that he can't dodge). Also do not pick a hard CC bot expecting your team to fall in line and focus yi. Most of the time they won't as they're "zeus"

This is a funky one. Your goal with yorick is to end the game before yi gets rolling.
How? SPLIT SPLIT SPLIT! You split all day, you never group you never TP gank. You keep shoving top until your hitting the nexus. Triforce+executioners calling+deadmans+thornmail and you can duel the YI EASILY! as long as you have your ult.
If you're uncomfortable with this approach then yes. Just ban him or ask someone to band him
Ban him is best if you cant handle him yourself. But please safe yourself from further struggles and do not take him bot. Take him top, mid, or support if you must, just not as the bot (ADC).
If your team is either a) having not much clue and/or b) planning to go the no hard CC team for whatever reason,
Ban him.
Do note, if there is a team that possess either of those 2 points above, they kinda would lose against almost all champs on the roster, but Yi is brought up because he capitalises on those flaws much harder, especially in low elo, when he gets the chance due to being a hyper-damage-carry.
yeah ban him tbh. once you get to ~gold. people stop playing him that much because once you pick him. enemy locks morgana, pantheon veigar. and you just lost.
If you're looking to learn him and make the most out of him, I can gladly help give you some tips/tricks. I can also help you with jungling (as it's usually where he is taken) with routes and methods of clearing that will save you tons of time/health and likely end up stomping your enemy jungler by sheer levels and stats at the early game. Most lower MMR junglers are generally looking for 1) a full clear or 2) buff -> gank/invade/cheese, however if you protect yourself with wards you can easily collapse upon them and start the snowball early! He's easily countered by Hard CC (Stuns/Snares/Roots/etc.), however if you have a decent reaction time you can Alpha Strike it (Q) to avoid it completely or Meditate (W) to take reduced damage from whatever is going to come your way. He's always one of the pinnacles of frustration at lower MMRs, as he tends to slaughter a team 1 by 1 when they retreat.
Point and click cc makes him die really quickly.

Ask yourself a simple question, do you teammates have enough cc, if almost everyone has a basic ability cc then don't ban him. If they don't, ban him. Also draft something with cc.
Yes, just ban him. Yi pretty much auto wins low elo because one lane will overextend and give him kills, making him snowball.
