Well, I will do the opposite. I will comment as a Swain main and tell you that I rarely win lane with him, to be honest... I have never thought of him as a strong laner.

Now, this depends on what you mean by "win lane." The point of Swain is to be able to turtle until 6 and then come out and surprise attack the mid game. I am usually down in cs, though. He is very hard to cs with.

If you have trouble against him, take advantage of this by pushing him to tower. He has some of the worst wave clear in mid lane, and no abilities that help him farm well.

Yes he has trouble lasthitting, not gonna deny that but you will never be able to outdamage him even at early levels. Point and click damage on 2 skills with 1.7 AP Ratio plus the 20 percent damage increase is impossible to beat. Once he gets 6 he dunks you.

Also not true. There are lots of champs that out-trade me very consistently.

I find Annie nearly impossible to deal with. She isn't a Swain counter, but I can't go in on her without getting punished real hard. Sometimes you can try to trade if her stun is down, but I good Annie doesn't let that happen. Very hard to deal with.

Cassiopeia is an INSANE Swain counter. Her poison and twin fang make it impossible to even think about trading with her. By the time I get to 6, she's so far ahead there's no way I can fight her. I just hope my other lanes do well and try to ride out the storm.

Viktor dominates Swain. This one is a range issue. You just can't get close enough to attack him without taking all his damage back, and it's definitely more.

I'm interested in who you play into him. It's something that needs to be mentioned when talking about laning, regardless of which champion we're talking about. There's quite a few champions that I love to be against as Swain, and if you're playing one of those, you're just in a bad matchup. My point in talking about the champions above is that Swain is not OP because he has strong, hard counterpicks, and hard lanes besides those. If you pick Ahri or Orianna into Swain... well, you'll probably lose. And that doesn't mean he's OP.

I just realized that we didn't specify a lane. I almost always take Swain mid. But I took him top against a Nasus recently, and even Nasus, who is supposed to be weak early, took a flask and did alright. I didn't really stop his farming, and I needed ganks to kill him.

I beat a Swain in the toplane yesterday as J4. he had TP too, and I had ignite. He hard counters me at 6, but he was stupid enough to give me first blood and then try to roam mid instead of focusing on getting to level 6 as quickly as possible.

In all seriousness though swain is a douche.
