My biggest issue with role selection

There isn't any way to get a solid mix of roles

you can only pick 2 and if you fill it pretty much is support (maybe jungle)...don't get me wrong I like fill and do fill time to time(AND NOTE THIS THREAD IS NOT ABOUT FILL, IM AM NOT CRITIQUING IT OR SAYING IT SHOULD BE CHANGED)

but I want an option that will give you more of an even split amongst roles(like what happened in the old pick order draft)

maybe add a fill that prevents you from being assigned to the role you previously played (again not saying regular fill should be replaced this thread isnt about regular fill)

or a check box system... you must select a minimum of 2 roles and if you select 3+(or maybe 4+) you won't get autofilled

that way you availibe to play more than 2 roles and you can avoid a role if it is a role you simply dont want to play or are bad at (so ADC in my case)

Pick order was cancer. Think of Autofill but every game. I played ranked in S3 and S4 before I said fuck that shit and literally 50% of my games someone had to bite the bullet and play support or the guy who got last pick was going to int feed.

The check box system would also be bad because 90% of players would check all but support to be immune to playing support and we would have 10-15min que times.

Honestly, if your going to have selection at all, just make each player give a priority to each role they prefer to play.

Priority goes from top to bottom.

Mid Bot Support Jungle Top

and then just let them choose their priority order. Fill is enabled each game to a certain extent, based on the priority given.

Everyone wins 80% of the time. Woohoo.

You can fairly easily get a good mix. You just need to queue up for different roles every game, instead of fill. You can also offer to trade others for roles when you feel like it. You'll also help save people who were autofilled, which gives an always welcome morale boost.

I'm gonna go off-topic with this one: The real issue with role selection is that it literally makes it so that there is only 1 way to play the game, 1-1-1-2, no exception.

Because god forbid people use a different team strategy beyond THE meta.

At least make it so there are a couple basic role templates to queue with like 2-1-1-1 or something. Why something as simple as that, and fixes so much problem of the "meta shoving", haven't been done is completely beyond me.
