I've been getting Ghostblade instead of Whisper on Vayne as my pen item
-I already have BorK and W to help with tanks
-More att speed and more crit means more single target damage
-Movespeed makes me even harder to catch
Am I dumb or is this ok?

Looking at the statistics from several Vayne games, most of her damage is still physical. More than four fifths, usually. This suggests to me that LW is still an important item on her.
The other thing would be that her W adds incentive to attacking tanks. They go down a lot slower without the LW.
However, seeing one of your comments just below I have no reason to think you will do anything other than insult me for posting this. Ah well.
The reason I ask questions is so I can get intelligent advice and improve my gameplay. Given the numbers you provided I'll probably go back to LW.
dumb
well youre silver so your opinion means nothing to me
I dunno, disregarding someone based on rank isn't always the best thing to do (even a Bronze 5 can come up with a decent idea).
But still. His opinion is nothing. Ghostblade, eh? I gotta try that.
oh idk he left a troll comment so i just returned the favor
another guy pointed out that approximately 80% of vaynes dmg is still physical so lw is better versus a team of tanks
but against a squishier team ill prolly still get ghostblade
Might be worth it, maybe. Love to see some data on ghostblade on Vayne. Extra crit can make up for the lost armor pen, I suppose.
It's kind of like how Botrk is on other adc's. Not so good on no-tank team comps. LW is very gold efficient, but I wonder what ghostblade would do for dps.
Am I dumb or is this ok
you idiot you asked if it was dumb and it is. so i said so. You heard something you did not like and i am the troll?
this guy lol
so mad
LOL look up my who i am playing with in ranked and compare them to you in ranked. I being matched with G4 to g2. I am also 1 game away from my winning my way back to gold with less than 100 games total
Your being matched with other s2 and are holding even with over 250 wins not counting losses. But hey you think your better than me.
Sry scrub
Yeah but.
You're still Silver.
sry scrub
and when i am gold and then your green with envy then what?
lol the silver is trash talking?
ahahahahahaha
how about you get gud m8
I'll be Plat.
her w makes anything work on vayne. you could build her tank and still be effective, as long as you just get one strong attackspeed item.
I was going to comment but I think OP derailed their own thread by behaving as a typical
main.
inb4
i don't main
I'm just asking for advise
No, you're looking for someone in a higher rank to say "Wow that's really good!".
Critmaster Garen had it right though.
But hey good luck getting to plat, keep abusing the freelo champs
for this patch and I'm sure you'll eventually get gold at least.
I was going to leave a real comment, but then I'd just be feeding a troll.
Also I've been abusing Wukong since Season 3 :^)
Most of Vayne's damage is physical, even to tanks with a couple armor items. LW is the far better choice unless the enemy team has literally zero armor items.
Also keep in mind that BotRK's passive deals physical damage and is reduced by armor, so the LW helps that significantly.
I guess it would depend on if you are AS capped before using the item. I could see it being good as a good squishy deleter, but I think the lost AS with the active on CD would hurt Vayne's dmg output the most.
The Ghostblade is more cost efficient against all targets [88.4% gold efficient without its active and 176.9% while the active is up], where LW is more cost efficient against high armor targets [62.6% gold efficient base and then 860g worth of armor pen (71.66 armor pen) for 100% efficiency] Ultimately, LW gives you the most late game bang for your buck, so If you need to late game carry, I would go LW; however, if you want an early snowball I think the Ghostblade is the best choice.
Well, if they have less than 57 armor, then ghostblade's flat pen will ignore more armor than last whisper's percentage. Any more than that, and ghostblade falls off hard.
This is why ghost blade is a good early item on some champs, it really kicks up damage against squishes who haven't been able to build armor, and it's build path is pretty great early as well, no big roadblocks like a bf sword.
If you need another damage item early, then ghostblade is less attractive. Even squishies' passive armor leveling and runes will take them at or above 57 armor, to say nothing of those actually stacking it.
Say a tank has 120 armor, to pull a number at random. Hardly unreasonable. He'll be ignoring 55% of physical damage.
Youmuu's 20 flat pen will bring that to 100 armor, and 50% damage reduction. Last whisper will bring that to 78 armor, and 44% damage resist. That's pretty significant, and it only gets more dramatic in the late game, where vayne should excel.
But you do mention ghostblade's utility. I'd argue its active is pretty redundant on vayne, since she really doesn't have a problem chasing people down, especially with a zeal or two in the build already. You usually aren't lacking the crit or AD either. There's not much ghostblade gives that vayne doesn't stack much higher with her core build.
