All the counters to zed= anyone who has half a brain.
No one has ever said Zed had no counters or counterplay. Our main beef with him his stupid wave clear. Like I can shut him down all I want, but he can just sit back farm the minion wave to relevancy. Seriously, any Zed player who doesn't have the highest CS by the end of the game should just uninstall because it's so easy.

but that shit counters a lot of other champs. if zed. made you allocate a whole slot. or two. for items. he won. not you. because team fight is coming and your weak.
damn son, glad i had 5000 gold to sink into 2 counter items, so... team, CYA, i need to keep laning against this zed. (beyond 20minutes)
at level 6...............
when realistically you wont have zhonas till 16~18minutes into the game, and QSS is just wasted gold for a mid laner. all of which is just to keep yourself alive. when hes still going to shove you out anyway, out sustain your poke. and then turn around with this tower + 50cs lead he has over you, and just go bot lane for a double kill anyway.
talon is one of the most balanced assassins
his passive is so stupid... and unfair...

This may sound weird but i found the perfect counter to zed and his name also starts with a Z, yes Zilean. I went against a supposedly former gold 2 playing one of his mains zed. my final score at 20:32 was 2/0/3 because zed couldn't get near me..... trust in father time. by the way all i had built at the time was a mana crystal and a faerie charm with 5.6k gold. :D

Eh, maybe I'm not looking in the right places but I don't see a lot of people who claim Zed has no counters/counterplay (and the ones who do tend to get, ahem, schooled).
The main complaint is that he's frustrating to play against, but... Well, i don't know. Assassins are assassins, they're going to be frustrating.
My favorite Zed counters:
Seriously, try solo lane Graves. It will make almost all assassins QQ.

In the case of LB there's 
, (you can QSS her Q, since it gives MR it's more effective against her than Zed), 
and every champ with untargetability and invulnerability.
For Rengar and Talon it's the same as Zed minus the QSS, plus a pink ward.
None of these champs really have more or less counterplay than any of the others.
To be perfectly honest, everytime i am forced to build , it feels like it is putting me behind because of the gold efficiency
