and still have the damage to nearly 1 shot our adc, and basically 1v3?

adcs can die to anything, because they are greedy and often get 0 defense. ADC with GA and BT can't be 1v1ed by Ekko tank.

Tahm was explicitly created with the option to top lane with him in mind.

I read something like that they first wanted to make him a top laner, but then his kit was too support...y but idk lol. Fizz was meant to be an ap assassin too but bruiser Fizz top/ jungle exists (or did exist).

Yes, but I'd also argue he's more of bruiser than an assassin. Most of his damage comes from auto attacks, building up his passive, and utilizing the % of HP damage on W, so he's sustained damage, basically the AP version of an ADC. If you build a bunch of damage, he just dies from having no defenses, if you build no damage, he's not super effective, so you end up with the tanky builds that have maybe 1 or 2 damage items involved, and that's what works right, typically looking at Abyssal Scepter, and maybe a Zhonyas.

Assassin went out the window when most of his scalings were nerfed because the players would rather cry than learn how to play against him.

His only high AP scalings are his Shield on W, and the damage on his ultimate, other than that his E has a 20% AP ratio, his Q has 10% on the initial and 60% on the very difficult to hit return damage.

He's like a melee version of Azir, his abilities just help him keep auto attacking.

Now I'm not saying full damage Ekko is a waste of time either, he works, but now he has a huge skill cap and requires excellent positioning to get his damage off.
