Why go armor pen on jhin and not the crit build?

With the crit build its way easier to CS ( you hit a point where you 1 shot the minion ) with armor pen you dont really ever 1 shot minions.

with the crit build you get the MS if you crit per auto and you get wayyy more AD because crit chance has special scaling ( Instead of jhin scaling with just 60 ad from ghostblade he scales with 70 AD anddd 20% crit chance which becomes bonus ad from infinity edge )

Im just asking because im curious.

Because the armor pen build late game is really good vs tanks you can easily kill them, while crit might be good yea but vs tanks it will be normal like any other adc without the pen

Its worth noting, Crit does end up scaling significantly better into the lategame (due to his low AS since he has to reload his gun and fires very slowly; Jhin is pretty bad at killing tanks even when he stacks armor pen compared to other ADCs)

Lategame Jhin can hit around 800 to 900 AD with his crit build and Lord Dominik's Regards; which makes him able to kill pretty much anything in a single reload or less, except the beefiest of opponents (who will usually die after a second round of bullets). 100% crit also enables him to activate his passive every shot.

TL;DR: Armor Pen Jhin is better for fighting targets early on, Crit build scales better; most games end somewhat early so armor pen is usually better (though I've noticed games are starting to last a little bit longer on average recently, from my experience anyway)

Isn't crit better vs tanks late game?

Crit is better vs any other role but tanks, to kill someone like hecarim you will need way too many autos for jhin as a crit build, but the pen build will make it way easier

Um... You'd need % pen for that. Flat armor pen is only for squishies.

Because AP synergizes better with his passive.

The Armor Pen build offers a better mid game and is stronger vs squishies and shit vs tanks Jhin's reload and lack of AS mechanics naturally make him shit at dealing with tanks the Armor pen build highlights his strengths and doubles down on his weaknesses.

Personally I prefer the crit build because I love being able to kite people with crits, but I largely hate to see people stack flat armor pen on ADCs that arent Lucian (Ghostblade + Cleaver) or Jhin.

Seeing MF's build Duskblade tilts me.

Mostly because of how gold efficient youmuu's is compared the how much crit you can get for the same amount.

item 3142 3200 item 1038 item 3086 item 1042 item 1001 3200

over 4 autos youmuus will do more damage unless jhin happens to crit on one of his 1st 3 autos.

So while yes the crit build plus dominiks will outscale in the late game with his passive, youmuus makes his early game kind of oppressive and can help win the game early.

Crit build is a lot more expensive and is far more effective in lategame (where you'd have 100% crit).

Armorpen build rips through the squishy enemy botlane in early where the only real armor they'd have is their base armor. It's also a lot cheaper and serves to snowball in early a lot stronger and harder.

The point-of-crossover is 2 items.

ER + IE (crit build) is one of the strongest two-item spikes in the game. GB + DB is better because it's a good bit cheaper and would help you snowball to get more items by the time someone might get the first 2 crit build items. But between an armorpen build Jhin lategame who couldn't end and a full crit build Jhin, the latter will decimate just about anyone.
