Ashe is finally getting her rework, but why are her abilities staying on weird buttons?

Specifically, her Volley (W) should be her Q. Pretty much every champion other than Ashe and Taric has their longer range/shorter cooldown/bread-and-butter skill on their Q. It's the ability you typically use most, and/or typically a ranged skillshot. Q is never a utility skill, it's always (again, except for Taric) a general use damage skill. Long ago, Jax had his Q and W swapped, because his Leap Strike was his general use, bread and butter skill. Ashe and Taric really needed that same change, but have never gotten it, even when both got reworks.

tl;dr: rito plz, I keep toggling frost shot when I want to use volley because her buttons are weird

Would love this. Never understood Volley being on W.

Then you don't understand why Jinx's Zap is on W either.

Well, maybe I don't. Is that a problem?

That said I think Jinx's ability placement is fine. Zap isn't a poke ability like most - you don't use it very often and when you do it's often in an all-in. Her rockets are better used for poke. On the other hand, her gun swapping is so core to her kit that it could hardly not be her Q. It's the absolute heart of her kit and she presses that button more often any.

Obviously Ashe's Frost Shot is a core part of her kit too but Volley actually is reliable, low cooldown poke (it has utility but often you use it for damage rather than the slow) and Ashe spends loooooong periods of time with Frost Shot toggled off, unlike Jinx who always has her Q doing something.

Jinx doesn't really have a poke/easy burst skill like most people so I'm happy for her to be the exception. But Volley does stand out and especially now that Ashe's Q is an activated steroid.

You're completely forgetting the fact that the Ashe rework has an attack speed steroid with a stack-based AD based on-hit damage.

Just like Tristana.

Or Jinx.

Other champion kits don't have their AS steroids on anything but their Q/passive if they have one (except for Graves' dash, which happens to be his closer). Having volley on W as a long-range form of damage and CC application just makes sense.

I disagree...

Aatrox :E is the longranged and probably most used skill in his kit Alistar : W is the longranged and probably most used skill in his kit Brand : W is usually more used than Q Fiddlesticks : E is the longranged skill, W the most often used KogMaw : Q probably the most situational and thus least frequent used skill in the kit Lux : E is far more used than Q....

i could go on, but there are quite some champions that have their longranged and/or most frequent used skills on other keys. it's true that most do have their 'main'-skill on Q, but it's not a neccesity.

But most of all, all the current ashe players would get so incredible mad with switched keys, i would permanently waste the huge cd of her new Q whenever i'd try to poke with salvo.

I forgot about Fiddlesticks, actually. He shares the same problem. And I'll admit to only having played Alistar like twice, so I have no idea what his abilities are anyway. The rest I mostly disagree with, since their Qs are not really used much due to balance reasons, not ability design reasons.

care to elaborate that? In a champions kit, balance and design are closly linked to gether, and if a skill isn't used as frequent as another, thats caused by design(with usually haveing balance as imperative)

You can change the hotkeys to any you like in the menu. QWERZJFK; etc. I'm pretty sure all hotkeys can be customized.

I had that opposite problem when I started playing Graves. My first game with him I kept wanting to use Buckshot with W, because of Ashe's Volley. Then I learned and never made that mistake again.

Leona Most used skill, from what I see and use myself, is her E.

tristana says high with her steroid on q and best ability on W

There is almost no consistency with hotkeys. The only things I can name, I think, are that escapes are never on the Q slot, and attack resets are never on the E slot.

And I could be wrong.
