Why aren't LP gains given the same way we do Champion Mastery?

Your LP gains should be about your average skill, not about your team's skill.

My LP gain shouldn't be relative to how the 5 of us came together and won. It's supposed to be about me. My standing is supposed to be relative to me. I'm not trying to be THAT GUY about "o wat if u get matchmade wit 4 shitt playrz?///" but it should be about me. Both the positive and the negative. It's entirely possible for me to get carried to victory by going 0/7/0 and buying 6 tears on Katarina, but the LP I gain will have nothing to do with how shitty I played.

Similar to the formula for champion mastery. It's an average of kill participation (kills/assists), deaths, gold income, objectives taken/participated in, wards placed/destroyed, etc.

Obviously make it so you can lose LP still, but this way even if you lose a game there's still potential for you to lose less or even gain some depending on how well you did as a personal player.

Ye and there is no way in hell people would only focus on solo plays instead on teamwork.

How do you have good teamwork if your teammates suck? If you gained LP from being good yourself, you'd be more likely to be matched with other people who did good themselves, and would be better at working together.

Having high scores does not mean you helped win the game. If your LP is based on your score rather than if you won, then;

  1. It would promote selfish play that results in losing the game when you would've won by playing as a team
  2. Strategies that did not focus on farming points would be punished regardless of how effective they are (such as proxy farming that results in low kills).

Basically, it would ruin the game by promoting selfish and toxic gameplay while punishing those that are actually better at the game.

This is why Champion mastery gives you 5x or more points for winning than losing; it doesn't matter how you did it, killing the Nexus is the only important thing.

So, warding, taking objectives, and getting assists are also toxic and selfish? Or is all you read the getting kills part? Also, how could you have less kills, assists, wards placed, and objectives taken if you're better at the game? You make no sense.

So you're telling me that two outer turrets are equal to the two nexus turrets? That spamming wards in your base is just as good as putting them spaced apart in the jungle? Or that just buffing an ally and running off for assists is just as good as participating in a teamfight?

I'm not making sense to you because you aren't thinking.

You always gain champion mastery points no matter how poorly you do or if you lose or win. Using the same system for ranked, we would all eventually be Challenger and thus it would mean nothing.

  1. Play support
  2. Take kills and spam wards in base
  3. Stats appear much better than other supports even though you cost your team the game
  4. Freelo

That would be really well if the formula wasn't an average of a bunch of different criteria.

Your "score" for warding would be great but your kill particpation, objective control, and gold income wouldn't.

Your score also takes into account your champion and how you do do compared to other people playing that champion in that role. Support Katarina would get a higher champion mastery score than a Mid Katarina who warded just as much and got just as few kills/CS. A Tryndamere ADC would also get a higher score than an identically performing Tryndamere Top.

Then you take into account people doing things just to improve that score, like stalling out the game for a better KDA, taking more of the junglers camps to inflate their CS, dropping wards in their own base, etc. When you think about it all and the impact it would have on actually playing the game, it's abundantly clear why a system like champion mastery isn't used for LP gains/losses.

I don't think he's saying you would ever gain LP for losing a game so you example doesn't work. Only way people could abuse it would be trying to get a higher score so they wouldn't lose as much LP.

I believe the reason you were downvoted is because you worded your main thought poorly. It sounds more like a different system than Champion Mastery. I for one would agree that having it be like Champion Mastery would be a bad idea.

I think this should be implemented in a way that simply reduces how much LP you lose on a loss. If I go 16/4/9 and my team is dead weight I don't really think I should be losing 18 LP. I also dont think you really deserve 28 lP if you play like garbage go 2/9/4 and get carried to a victory that you had little to do with the win. At best it should be able to dampen your LP loss or gains since if you are getting carried a lot you aren't ready for the next tier anyway
