Aurelion Sol Adjustments Pls (Cuz Dragons should be fun)

AurelionSol

He took years to make, but upon release was considered still too OP and he got hit with nerfs.

I don't think he needs a massive damage buff, but in his current state he just can't do much and there are always better picks for mid/top/support.

First of all I think he had super high damage at the beginning in an attempt to balance his weakpoints; the idea being if you're at a certain range you get obliterated but if you get past stars you can blow him up.

The problem is the damage was nerfed and the original built in weakness is now overbearing.

Q- balanced imo - however considering you can't point blank ppl with it, its not very impressive in comparison to other spells of the same type or in relation to the weaknesses in the kit.

Anivia Brand Morgana Ryze Zyra Lux are all more viable for this cc category

W- its too weak. If you activate the stars and land the dmg you'll eat their team, BUT if they have ANY CC or gap closers chances are you won't. If you're behind at all, then you really really won't do enough dmg even with it activated. The idea of the stars being "interrupted" to me is fine, but the time it takes for them to shrink, and then the additional cd to activate them again, leaves you limited in most fights. (you're just not doing any dmg for long periods of time) Also, when their small, they don't do much dmg at all, so most enemies can get away with standing in them and not caring about the dmg. what are you going to do AurelionSol? press w and send them further away so i dont take any dmg? or q past me since I'm so close it'll go past me? (about ult later)

Katarina Leblanc Diana Akali Zed Yasuo Lux Kennen and many many more can manage around this/ out dmg this ability easily

E- Weakest ability.

Provides no passive dmg. has an ms charge? AND you lose the charge to ANY dmg? AAAAND a long ass CD????

But you can gank with it right? yes, and its pretty sweet to combo with q, but in lane its useless except to get back to lane faster. You don't want to jump into the middle of the enemy team unless you're monstrously fed and even then you're prolly gonna die because your R is your only reliable self-peel.

Once again, there is no other passive on this that gives you more dmg or utility. Its a dead key.

-insert any decent roaming mid pick here----- prolly better

R- This ability is sweet. It works like it should, has a decent cd and is fun to play. Annie

Leblanc Lux Malzahar Orianna Syndra Veigar
------ all more viable burst/cc with similar ult functions

I hope my point is made. If he falls this hard to so many other mages, his top lane match ups suffer even more because of his squish.

TL;DR I suggest q pop at point blank W passive stars either do more dmg/apply cc AND/OR you can immediate recast after interrupt like Karthus circle. less things should interrupt the w. E- needs most rework. needs dmg passive, or short cast (like a gap closer or escape). at very least should charge and keep charge if nothing else

Or he needs more health and resistances

There are almost always better options for laning than sol and comps, even though he fits all around team fights.

I think he's perfect the way he is. If you go this strat you should be having more fun and experiencing him better first always take summoner 12, once you get a item 3010 push the hell out of your lane with w then roam to top or bot (bot is usually best) if you fly behind the enemy with your e and save your q to aim it properly rather than just using it to increase the size you can pretty much always get a kill. since your behind them flashing wont do much.

If you keep repeating this method you should be snowballing faster than a Katarina, But since AurelionSol 's laning phase is so bad you want to avoid staying in lane as much as possible. and as a personal preference if prefer taking death fire touch as keystone. and ALWAYS max W.

Yeah back when he was still Ao Shin I was going to add him to my champion pool no matter which role he turned out to be. Hes too feast or famine for how hard of a champion he is for him to be fun. My midlane pool has been nerf to literally Malzahar throughout this season and when i get around to expanding it I wish I could say that he would be an option for me but he just doesn't feel like hes worth the effort.

Aurelion Sol is a drastically different champion with a playstyle like almost no other. He's also a very difficult champion to master because of his very kit in itself. He's also completely fucked by any gapcloser/CC/etc matchup.

Dedicated Aurelion Sol players with tons of experience on him do extremely, absurdly well (~60% WRs average). He does not need buffs or changes. This is just how he is.

Thank you for clarifying your point

I know high elo players can do really well with him, and even with his current kit I think I do decently well for my level. I love playing him. If my suggestions for fix seem to suck, then I guess I'm missing more, but I still think tweaks would still do the Dragon some good.

I think the idea of the balance he has works, but I don't agree with his weaknesses as they currently stand. I'll give you an example of what i think would be fair.

Lux in a similar way to AurelionSol can get deleted by Akali if they trade, Lux has a low chance of winning, but Akali still has to be mindful of more than just Q and R like she does with Sol. At the very least, Lux can point blank stun Akali. Sol's Q has a straight up chance of casting behind her, let alone a normal whiff. After that its like what i said before he's got R (maybe) and rylais (hopefully). Lux has more keys. Is she probably going to lose the trade just like Sol? yes, but her options when in a pinch don't leave you feeling so "ahhh shit".

So when I'm in champ select looking at champions I want to play (especially if I'm not Diamond or something) and I want to play mages, Sol CAN be picked and he CAN snowball, but there are a lot of other choices serving cc and burst in a better overall spectrum

Idk about what you've seen lately, but I mainly see Akali Ahri Diana Yasuo Lux Ekko Annie Leblanc

They dont all counter him or anything, but there are pretty hard match ups in there that leave me playing defensive all game and hoping my jungler is nice enough to gank.
