I think we can all agree that at the very least ALLY unit block shouldn't exist.

DarkSoul1994··211 votes·4,311 views

Sure, maybe I should get punished if I chase through an enemy minion wave and get creep blocked all over the place.

Getting punished by my OWN minions on the other hand makes no sense whatsoever in any universe under any circumstances.

I mean, I've seen instances where a huge wave of minions should take a tower but literally half of the Caster minions are bugging out instead of attacking because they all unit blocked each other.

Like, instances of ally minion vs ally minion unit block ALONE is probably enough to warrant removing ally minion block.

Allied creep blocking is to a point is understandable.

Allied Champion blocking/pathing is fucking ruthless and annoying.

Votable Jester15 votes

Yeah I think allied creep block is important actually because otherwise skillshots that can be blocked by minions would be near impossible to land in the laning phase. Otherwise they could just stand inside their caster minions and be impossible to hit without killing the minions first.

Kaìju24 votes

I think you have to have ally champion blocking because if not the adc could just sit in Cho'Gath and be ultra hard to kill. You would have tanks body blocking by sitting on the carry.

Yeah, that's understandable.

Its when I walk by an allied champion and my champion goes in a whole different direction around an ally causing me to get hit by a skill shot that annoys me.

Hawkefire1 votes

Why not just make it so that you cannot end your movement on top of another champion. IE if 2 champions occupy the same location, one of them (preferably the smaller one) will be shunted towards the nearest unoccupied space.

Kaìju1 votes

People would just walk the minimum half distance on top of their ADC and it would be the same shit.

Disagree. Stay behind your minions not on top of them. It also puts a barrier between you and the enemy, removing it would be a balance nightmare.

Brascus24 votes

It's not without its problems, even the AI gets screwed by it, I don't think it needs to be removed either because there was a time when this wasn't as prevalent.

The change could be as simple as pushing them out of the way at a slower speed.

tfw you have 6 range creeps and you literally cannot get in range to attack anything without walking for 2 seconds

being stuck behind a pile of creeps is something entirely different than being sandwiched between 2 minions and you can't path through it so you have to flash. Or being stuck between a wall and a minion, bouncing back and forth. Those instances need to be fixed asap because theyre happening way too often

not even 2 minions. 1 minion can sometime be enough to fuck up pathing especially for bigger champ. It's like minions are coded as hard terrain now.

PaladinNO5 votes

I don't even mind the minions being coded as hard terrain. What I DO mind is the unit pathing in this game being worse than it is in the original StarCraft. Even Warcraft 3 do better than this crap.

Just watching my champion endlessly walking back and forth in front of a minion, unable to pass unless micromanaged every step of the way makes me sometimes decide on whether to just die for the heck of it, waste Flash, or buy Phantom Dancer - on Nami support.

Minions and allies aren't ghosts, unit block should be kept ( imo )

Tactical Barrels2 votes

Not the way it is right now. It should be kept, yes, but fixed.

Or just completely remove it and change all the champions that have this in their kit.

Creep block does nothing then just annoy the crap out of you. I can't think of any reason why creeps should be able to block me.

Dark Blackblood4 votes

because they have a physical form maybe? I actually like to make use of the blocking to escape bad situations, and that goes both ways.

Atanchan1 votes

I mean if they didn't, you could just stand in them to become immune to skillshots.

It first does nothing, and only then it just annoys the crap out of you?

ModAcademy Kayn4 votes

Then every caster becomes useless, as there will always be an impenetrable wall of minions for you to stand in.

KVbqbFsC8e4 votes

I can't agree with that. I wouldn't want large model champions or lane bullies standing on top of their own minions and making it impossible to CS.

Automated Riven1 votes

Just have champions shove the minions out of the way. (ally)

I personally dont think minion block is that big of a deal either. But its whatever.

xelaker1 votes

honestly though, at a certain size champs should be able to brush minions aside or outright step over them....

best example is obviously Chogath but champs like Velkoz don't even touch the ground and are blocked...

Troll for Trump3 votes

Something something lane bully abuse

JA Stulla3 votes

I disagree with this, in order to be competitive you must have your spacial awareness and hence unit block is built into the game. If you see League as a sport then spacial awareness is the most important thing in order to make it feel like a sport.

ChompyWulf2 votes

Can we stop whining about bodies having mass? If you didn't have enemy minion collision, the game would suddenly vastly favor faster champs. If the game didn't have allied minion collision, they would be far to easily used as a wall and higher level players would lose another facet of wave manipulation. If allied champions didn't have unit collision then tiny yordles would far too easily hide in allied tanks.

Just learn to play with the game as it is and GET OVER IT.

Escheton2 votes

That feeling when eating a skillshot to the face that you were clearly moving out of the way from, if not for getting bodyblocked by an ally that wasn't there a moment ago. #MostlyARAMstruggles

Minions and champions effectively getting hard CC'd by creep block is the dumbest thing in the game. I don't care if they block my path, but I sure as hell DO care if I get stuck in MF's entire ult because I was standing next to two caster minions. (This happened today.)

Buff Blitzcrank then

SpiritOfOdysseus1 votes

Getting stuck on allied minions isn't my problem.. the fact that I get stuck on other allied players is a WHOLE. DIFFERENT. STORY.

But an easy way of fixing minion block as a whole:

If champion has atleast 2x the health of a minion; then champion gets pathing priority. If champion has atleast 2x the health of another champion; then larger hp champion gets pathing priority.

Sohleks1 votes

Not happening. It either has to be all block or no block. Otherwise a ranged champion will literally kite melee through his free Azir walls like every game.

YuGiHo1 votes

No at the verry least minions blocking minions should not exist.

cuddlykitten41 votes

Works both ways. Ever wondered how you beat a melee champ that's in your face as a ranged champ? Easy, walk circles around their minions wave while they try to get to you. Every disadvantage you have is a disadvantage shared by opponents. Rather than ask for an advantage for yourself, look for ways to abuse the disadvantage in the other guy.

cuddlykitten41 votes

You can also use it in reverse and block your minions paths. It sets at least the first wave closer to your tower than the enemies.

Cyrex Wingblade1 votes

SO... about this.

I know HotS is a very different game in core fundamentals, but they don't have ally-creep block, and they DO have skillshots.

And yes, you use your creeps to shield 'first target' shots. That's why a lot of HotS spells rely on first 'hero' hit, and actually /can't/ be used to farm creeps at all.

I prefer that, to the frustratingly idiotic knock-about the creeps do in LoL. Enemy creeps fucking me up is at least logical. My own getting me killed because they forced a double-back at the worst possible second is something else.

DarkSoul19941 votes

I've been playing a bunch of HotS (in fact it was one of the main reasons I made this thread). Enemy minion block is perfectly fair. Being able to dodge skill shots in your minion wave is perfectly fair (this coming from a Jaina main who doesn't take the talent that allows my Q to pass through units after it hits something).

Tactical Barrels1 votes

Have you tried playing Urgot and pass through your Casters? It will make you go around them and screw your Shotguns which have 30 fucking seconds cooldown early game. On top of that it will make you push the wave in instances where you don't want to, since you have to last hit from different angles.

CØulrophobia1 votes

I think this is the long gone connection to Dota, you see in dota you can stand behind your minions when coming to lane to make your minions come closer to your tower. Thus enemy minions end up pushing into you and you get advantage in lane. There are also several other tricks you could do with minion block, so I think Riot said they needed it for future concepts and champions.

I love when I try to get back to my tower when i see enemy jungler coming to my lane, then I get blocked by my own minions and die

Liveey1 votes

I think getting enemy champion blocked is annoying too.

Like isnt Anivia W supposed to get me killed because I am being blocked and not the champ in front of me?

My champion model got bugged on an enemy champion and I died because I wasnt moving the way I wanted to.

I think ally creeps shouldnt have the body block thing but ally champions should to avoid small champions from hiding in bigger ones.

Enemy minions should require block while enemy champion models should not.

LordGeovanni1 votes

Here is a experiment you can try in this universe play a game with some friends and walk through them while playing the game

5tryx

Actually, here's an idea. Keep everything the same. But, for allied minions, make it so that when they have signals to move but they find themselves not moving, they should look for nearby champions and move out the way if the champion is there. This way, laners can't just stand on top of minions, and we I won't get stuck between a tower and a minion for the billionth time. Keep the physical body of champions and minions, but make minions get budged out the way if they're physically blocking a champion.

Also, with how huge Cho'Gath can get, just imagine what a team full of burst mages and ADCs can do with him blocking ALL the damage. Cho'Gath is strong enough already..

[slayer-pantheon-rainbows]

EDIT: TL;DR Some cases are just annoying (like getting stuck in a tower thanks to a single minion). But most the time it's an integral part of the game. We should worry about the important bit (the annoying one) instead of the whole thing.
