Am I the Only One That is Sad to See Kog'Maw get reverted?

Sure, he's a bit of a balance problem, but if Riot put a little more effort into it, I'm sure they could make his current state workable. It sucks to see a very unique and fun champion go back to being generic ADC #12. If they were reverting the ult too, then maybe, because at least then there's AP Kog, but going back to the super boring ADC he used to be is just a little sad to me. I really like the theme of him being a living machine gun, immobile as hell but with insane damage.

I think if they just made his passive attack speed go back to his Q so it isn't a wasted ability, and made his W cut his movement speed in half during it's duration, he would be fine. If they cut the movespeed, it would feel more like a choice on whether or not to activate turret mode, rather than just click W whenever possible. Also, it would hurt the scripters, which I think is a massive reason for the revert as a whole.

Oh well, I'm sure this post will bring in massive amounts of downvotes, but I just wanted to give my two cents before the changes go live.

One problem with Live Kog'Maw is how completely and utterly he affects the state of on-hit itemization.

Basically, as long as the AS doubling effect exists, all on-hit items ( item 3153 item 3124 item 3091 item 1419 item 3085 ) and effects (Fervor of Battle, item 2139 , Red Buff, item 3504 , Lulu ) have to be balanced around this effect. That usually means that the effects are either good for everyone else, but broken on Kog'Maw (item 3091 item 1419 item 3085 ) or fairly / horribly underpowered on everyone and ok on Kog'Maw (item 3153 / item 3124 ).

Make on-hit effects 55% effective in turret form. Then he gets to keep the only thing unique about him, and it isn't a balance issue anymore.

Doesn't matter tbh, people will still build every onhit item and he will still pump out that damage late game with 0 difference.

But he will feel worse. They're just putting him back to a similar, more boring state.

Not really tbh, the only thing effected by this will be his early game, and instead you will level his armor/mr shred before his slow.

but i understand your pain in the end.

I like being a machine gun. I like getting double attack speed cap and having a hail of barf-bullets stream towards my enemies. Old Kog was just a boring immobile ADC with no identity outside of a self-destruct. Old AP Kog was awesome, and that should come back, but I really wish Riot would reconsider removing the machine-gun Kog.

I mean, either way the damage is still there, just abit slower. besides hitting your machine gun state didn't happen till late game anyways. Old kog was still a reliable power house who was just too immobile, i think it'll actually be fine.

See, I don't care if the damage is still there. I don't play champions for their strength, I play them for being fun. Old Kog was not fun. New Kog is super fun. Not to play against, but super fun to play as.

Alas, sometimes game balance has to beat out whether or not a champion is fun or not. I honestly preferred old kog as to there was just a little bit more required to make him worth something.

At least now i can kite without losing out on a few autos every second, amirite?

No, the damage isn't still there.

If you use the same OnHit build on Kog that's popular right now you damage output will be a little over half what it was with the machine-gun W. There's a reason why people did poke/kite with Trinity on Kog before the W remake.

Except, you know, with about half as much damage.

You know what his old W did, right?

Current W cuts any non on-hit damage down to 55% while giving the range, speed, and % damage, old W just gave you range and % damage. It'll be less damage (if you still do full on-hit), but not half.

The main problem was when Riot decided to give Koggy's W flat %HP damage instead of the AD scaling it had at the beginning of the remake. The OnHit damage Kog gets from W right now previously took 160ish AD to reach. At first Kog was actually weak early game, but then Riot gave him no scaling damage and all base damage and wondered why his mid-game was suddenly so daunting.

I did say with a little effort. Even if they have to nerf it to the point of being terrible, I'll still take my little machine-gun over the boring champ he was before.
