Why isn't Xerath, Swain, and Karthus going to take part of the Immobile Mage Update?
Is there a reason why Riot won't include these guys in the Mage Update:

Xerath has be classified as an "Artillery Mage", a type of mage who seiges from super long range (like
)
Vel'Koz? seems arbitrary which champions they picked.
edit: (that's because it really was)
Yeah, he kind of fits in that sect as well but Riot's words are that he doesn't really bring anything new or interesting to that line of mages. Which I can see.
is long range burst combo
is a seiger who pokes and wittles down the enemy
is zone control
is stuck somewhere between burst combo and seige poke
that may be true, but velkoz is one of the few mages able o perform every function but healing and shielding (lthough lux can shield)
velkoz provides: aoe damage, zone control, burst damage, crowd control and the ability to nuke an entire team at once depending upon how clustered they are in a line
brand sort of follows the same rule but his damage is more reliable for less range
i really hoped
would at least be mentioned in the mage update. i just want a sign that riot understands that he is an AD mage, not a marksman
I was kind of hoping that riot actually did something on Xerath. Back in his original state he had the highest baseline burst any team could muster in a mage. Nowadays with the new mastery system and his changes, I don`t know, he seems to be lacking. Some champions can bring the same or even more damage while doing so more economically (mana wise) or easily.
I know, I know, Q is kind of easy to land, but has a wind up time that other competing skills lack completely thereof (some travel time, but nothing like charging for maximum range). But I feel W has a slightly big CLD and E should carry the same stun length no matter the distance (Xerath is already ultra-screwed if someone gets too close). When you think about it, E does not carry even such a memorable stun at max range, where it is much harder to hit.
And damn, that passive. I love playing Xerath but one thing he never had was a decent passive reflecting his lore and play style. Earlier he had an interesting passive, but not quite suited for his play style, converting AP into armor. Yeah, for a champion that does not want to get close to anyone having armor is a waste. I could see that on a AP tank champion, not Xerath. Riot saw that too and decided to make amends. The new passive, autos granting mana every now and then, should turn him into a very sustainable threat in lane. However, I call it bullshit. I mean, could not this passive be completely scraped if Xerath had a bigger mana pool, greater mana regen or smaller costs? It also makes no sense whatsoever for the champion`s lore.
I mean, Xerath is MADE of pure arcane energy. He is literally magic trying to free itself from those bounds. He WILL be FREE, as he says. IMO, Riot lost a nice opportunity there to reflect his ever increasing powers on a passive that could be exchanged easily for an
. Sometimes I think if Xerath should have had a mana bar after all. I mean, casting with Life could be more thematically accurate (he spending his essence on powerful spells) or even no cost at all, just CLDs (after all, one could argue his power is infinite, though contained).
But what makes me think more about it is that nothing in his kit actually reflects his lore.

He had a passive that converts ap into armor? that's pretty neato...sucks that Riot removed it

Yeah. It was quite unique in a sense, but it did no help him very much after all. I'd love to see it back on someone else, though
