Can we do an Alistar to Volibear?
Personally I think Voli could use a visual update (especially in regards to his Q running animation to make him look more bear like), but remember how a few months back they changed Alistar by just switching his abilities around?
Can we do that with Volibear? I think his ultimate would be much better as a passive and his passive as his ultimate. Make him closer to a juggernaut. After all Voli doesn't have a huge amount of built in CC outside of his Q and his kit focuses on damage (he has an execute, his ultimate adds pure AOE damage to a team fight etc) which is a lot closer to a Nasus than comparable tanks. However, he doesn't really need a complete overhaul. Voli plays in a very unique way and has a unique thematic.
His passive could be the lightning strike which would charge via a CD ammo system like Kleds rapid strike on Violent Tendencies, that would give you 3 charges when the CD was over. Specifically 3 because it is 3 strikes to charge up to his bite.
From there can make him more interesting by making it so each of his abilities when used gives him one extra lightning charge after its use. This would change his kit in a way that there is more play to and against Volibear, but also feed more into the concept of an electric warrior bear building up both concept and gameplay. Then damage can be adjusted accordingly.
The ultimate can still be the health restore and then maybe just grant extra tenacity, size, and attack range. Nothing too extreme. Also, that way if you screw up and activate it at the wrong time it punishes you for using it incorrectly, unlike Voli's current passive that auto heals when you get low, thus also giving the player more agency as when they want to use it so they can pick the perfect times to activate it rather than have it firing off on it's own.
I've always loved Volibear since I started playing him in my first season of league (which was end of season 4) and don't want to see him completely reworked like we just had with the tank update and Sejuani.
Save the bears!
