"it's the meta bro!"
Hearing this from somebody that just won at the scoreboard just makes me want to throw bricks at churches and spit on children. It's mainly because I agree though. Riot loves to boast about their rapidly expanding champion roster and release articles on "champion diversity". I'm sure they think that more champions means more diversity, but in reality I'd say it means the opposite.
"Look at our roster of over 130 something champions!" (not even including reworks)
Ok. Now show me proof that you are competently balancing all those champions, riot. Out of those 130+ champs, why do I ever only see maybe on average 8 champions buffed/nerfed in every patch? Why is there a got damn
in over 70% of the games I play? Why does any given champion ever attain a playrate of over 40% when there is such a wide range of champs to chose from!?
Those were all rhetorical questions by the way. I know it's the got damn meta. And I know it's only gotten worse and will continue to do so. I know it because as league of legends grows older, the frequency that i'm harassed in game increases... such as team mates throwing salt, telling me X champion would've been a better ban, or X champion would've been a better pick, or X item would've been a better buy, and so on. The more champions and reworks that get pumped out, the more new items are introduced, the more new jungle content appears, the more the meta becomes a kung fuu grip to my nether regions BECAUSE players are able to figure out and capitalize on the gross unbalanced content much faster than it can even be balanced.
Just to be clear, this isn't a post specifically on Lucian. I'm only using him as an example because he is a good example at this point in time. I know there are other abusers as well. This post is about the meta and how we are all slaves to it.
