Could we get details of this "soft reset" of Ranking or does RIot have no clue what is happening?

Hello,

I am giving Riot feedback and question: Can game developers give us details how this soft reset works, and how the new MMR is calculated? I fear you cannot do that and the system is totally random, and thus based on nothing but cargo-cult mathematics applied without any understanding.

It appears that the "soft reset" is actually hard reset tossing almost everyone at least one division downward regardless the outcome of qualifier games. I thus make one question: why do you have those qualifiers, if they have no effect? And another question: which MMR new people at level 30 is put? I would not call that soft reset but forced downgrading of skill without any basis to encourage competition and forcing people to play with players who are less skilled they are.

Dear Riot, such move would only create MORE frustration among players, and make us wonder your motivation to do so. Could you explain why you took this policy? And I want the real reasons not the PR bullshit you have spewed. If the movement is arbitrary, it will break MMR system down like assuming 4 vs 5 is as hard as 5 vs 5. I have asked every season the question why you make such blatantly false assumption that 4 vs 5 is as hard as 5 vs 5, and only answer is "it may be abused" without giving any details how it would be abused and how likely.

I think it proves how broken RIot MMR and league system is. And I think random factor comes from the fact Silver 2 overlaps with bronze. And system uses some RIot implemented code (read: totally incompetent programming due lack of logic and mathematics) choosing whether to place player with 1200 MMR to bronze or silver. Quite likely RIot does it their way - stupid way - and put you to the lowest possible MMR. IT explains how it works. If you are below average MMR of certain division, you get placed there.

THere was report one player won qualifiers from bronze to silver and got demoted, thus same works for rising.

At the moment, the soft reset has not happened. I'm pretty sure that what we got, was a HARD reset. Meaning our mmr from Season 6 is not taken into account.

If I'm wrong, which I might be. Then what a soft reset does is after your placement matches, it takes the mmr you earned and the mmr you had last season and finds the middle ground. Almost everyone earns lower than last season.

Flex Queue is essentially a new queue that does not take the previous Dynamic Queue into accout. So, essentially, it is a hard reset, yes.

The soft reset for Dynamic will happen once Solo Queue is enabled - probably next week or in 6.23, as that queue inherits the MMR from Dynamic Queue.

Gotcha. Thanks :)

This. Flex queue is from scratch, soloq will inherit from dynamic queue and get a soft reset.

If it does not take previous MMR into account, how can system work with drops you full division if you win majority of your games?

This just proves how bad Riot League system is. It is totally broken. IF you have to win all qualifiers to stay where you were, something is REALLY wrong. And Riot does defend this by saying that you may drop even if you win all. THey do not want us to know HOW badly they have broken the system, and uses normal PR bullshit they always use. They are just like Trump. They do not want to admit they did something wrong as it would hurt their pride. Instead they attack everyone who does state unfavorable facts.
