Riot should start focusing on positive feedback - rewarding those who are actively helping

Hello,

Riot should start using 21st century psychology, and start rewarding those doing well, and focus on positiveness like they tell us to do in Summoner's code. The code is really good. Riot is just intepretating it without any positiveness. Start rewarding victims of flamers and rules violators. That would fast piss them off. Way faster than punishing them as they can easily get new hacked account or just new account.

They are currently working on rolling up an upgrade/change to the honor system. It has been briefly touched upon in one of their videos, and some of the articles that were posted. Last I heard, they were going to be getting it up and running sometime after the new client went fully live. Which, as that just happened, should be soon.

It does seem like the ribbons were a lot easier to earn in the past. Back in seasons 3 and 4, they were very common. Hardly a game passed without at least one player having one, and at different points I personally had 3 of the 4 types. Now? I've seen one ribbon in the last two seasons. You just don't see them like you used to. And there are some random players that I encounter who are just incredible; they are positive, funny, kind, helpful and always working with the team, I wish I could give them a ribbon to let everyone else see just how awesome they are to play with. I really hope they get the honor initiative rolling soon, because I would love to see those people honored the way they deserve to be.

Yeah, seriously! I've been intermittently asking for this over the past year or longer.

Post-game honors seem to carry no weight and give no benefits. I'm a pretty chipper and positive individual, so I get my fair share of honors, but I've never gotten a banner acknowledging them, nor do I have any idea how close I would hypothetically be to earning one. And honestly, I've only seen like two people EVER who have earned one.

Reward people for being flamed? Is that some sort of joke?

FurriesAreHot5/25/2017, 5:11:25 PM5 votes

The honor system is being completely reworked. I think it's safe to assume it will help with this.

So ur saying you think people who have honors should be "above" riot's rules on toxic behavior and should be allowed to flame? Riot has no problem with you defending yourself as long as you are civil about it and aren't flaming. Hell riot even is lenient on some rages as they admit emotion is human. It is when you are constantly flaming and raging that you get punished. Which happens when reports stack up.

Hey, I was chat restricted back in feb and while I deserved it, I hardly deserved the teammates I was put with. Giving people like them a reward when they should have been punished as hard as me if not worse hardly seems the right solution. So let's take a look at what I was dealing with and why I had started calling people idiots and stuff.

Reach s3 after climbing from bronze 2 - I was gold 5 last season and had extraordinarily poor teammates in 6 placement games making them auto-losses. I get 2 WEEKS straight of the following in nigh on EVERY game. Bot lane - losing lane 2v2 - down 5 kills to the enemy duo. Ask them to play safe, hug tower, farm, and it's going to be ok. They continue shoving to the enemy tower, and enemy jungler goes bot to join the free kills feast. Bot lane is easily 0/8/0 APIECE in first 10-15 min of laning phase. The jungler they fed is now camping me. My jungler is making poor invades of enemy jungler - feeding the jungler who is camping me more. The rest of the time, he is camping for our feeding bot lane or losing mid lane - losing bot lane fights despite having a 3v2. I could start getting kills top and carrying if I got ganks, but naw, screw that guy for asking bot to PLEASE JUST FARM AND WARD; let him rot 1v2. And when that's not enough to keep him from going even or winning lane, let's have fed support join or fed mid and make it a 1v3 camp of toplane. And when that happens, wow, now team listens and plays safe. Except they are 2v1 or 2v0 or 1v0 and hiding under tower, not farming, not pressuring tower even though 20 sec ago when it was 1v1 and 2v2 in their lanes, they were more than willing to shove tower and feed. Now all of a sudden when there is zero threat of them dying, they won't push tower to relieve pressure on me top or trade objectives. And they repeat back all my solid advice (that I said nicely the first 4+ times) back to me in a mocking manner and salt me. So I stop saying things nicely. Repeat this for 2 weeks straight and drop me from s3 to nearly falling out of s5. Every game. And instead of the feeding teammates who flamed and salted me at LEAST as hard and rudely as anything I said getting punished, I get chat restricted. I deserved my restriction, but these people I was stuck with deserved much more and got 0 punishment. So I ask you, would you like to play with such people game after game after game after game after game after game after game, etc. and have them be rewarded because you lost your cool from dealing with people like them for 2 weeks straight and see them get rewarded for doing everything in their power to make your game as miserable as possible just because you TRIED telling them nicely to play safer and ward? I don't think so. P.S., given a streak of decent teammates, I am finally g5 again. So yeah, I don't think I deserved a 2 week losing streak in s3 and I don't think that loss streak was my fault. People shouldn't have to deal with toxic intentional feeders who only think about themselves at cost of everyone else being able to enjoy the game on that level of regularity. I've had games where I went 3/9/4 and won or lost games. But I played as safely as possible after dying maybe twice in lane due to one early mistake and the enemy exploiting their lead. I made them work for it and gave my team the best possible chance to carry me without playing stupidly agro and feeding more. I know the difference between inting and having a bad game. And the difference is not always the kda - it's the decision making. I forgive people having a bad game. They adjust their play to hurt rest of team as little as possible. They listen to teammates who make valid points/offer solid advice. They are able to work with team and come back after having a rough start. Not always winning, but making it competitive and enjoyable. My favorite game this season was a loss. 4 losing teammates and a fed crocodile that put the fear of urf into 4 fed enemies and stalled out a game twice as long as it should have taken the enemy to win based on their lead. Because my teammates listened, adapted their play to become BETTER players with smarter tactics and we nearly turned that game into a win. Seeing my teammates grow because they chose to be TEAMMMATES not solo queue selfish players and watching them become better players than the enemy team was - players who only lost because the enemy team's lead was too great - was the most rewarding league experience I have had this season; better than reaching gold 5.

I just think it is a shame that there isn't a lot of reason TO +1 someone for being friendly/helpful. At least when reporting you know that you can get the person punished.

Xion The XIV5/29/2017, 2:01:51 PM1 votes

I don't know too much about this. It's not hard to even abuse this Helpful system. What will happen to the people who just don't talk in chat at all? (Been in a lot of game with people who will go into a game for over 50 minutes and never ping or type a single thing.) Also what about the people who only ping to help? Would it be polite to make the Rager madder by just talking with him? He calls you a trash JG and you just agree with him saying it's your first or second time on this champion? And if it's to the people who report, can almost guarantee we will see another Tribunal disaster of every game there will be 81 reports per game.

Smite has a little something called Goodwill. It's your prize for not dodging or afking or being a jerk. What does it do? it provides you with extra favor (IP) after a game. It isn't much but it helps you get more money to buy gods and stuff.

Dodging and afk are much rarer in Smite in my experience (though I have yet to play ranked), the goodwill system must help somehow. LoL could certainly find a way to reward good behavior.

Let me quote the definition of goodwill:

Goodwill is a system implemented in SMITE to encourage players to play by the rules and to follow the community codes.

Each game completed without any negative actions (being AFK consistently, abandoning or dodging matches, or being reported repeatedly) will grant 6% Goodwill up to 100%.

Goodwill increases the total Favor gained from a completed match by up to 30% at maximum goodwill; the extra Favor gained due to the Goodwill progression can be seen in the after-match lobby. Goodwill will reset to 0% upon committing a negative action.

ikr, the subconscious doesn't interpret negatives. Do ~~not ~~flame. Do ~~not ~~troll. Do ~~not ~~AFK. Do ~~not ~~harass. Do ~~not ~~fight back. Do ~~not ~~get angry.

Do ~~not ~~think of a Pink-Polka-Dotted-Elephant.

Mute and Report.

Your report has resulted in a player being punished. Thank You for your feedback!

Well friendly, teamwork, and helpful are useless now so no one really wants to try to achieve those. Likewise for Honorable Opponent.
