It just lets people like Rek'sai, TK, and TF heal up.

Not sure how many of those work. I recall a video description of Ascension at it's release. The player tried to use pantheons ult to get back to base. But the coding made his ult target where he was standing instead.

Though I do recall them having problems with shen's ult. And players using that to play keep away with the ascension buff. That would be something that riot is trying to avoid in that game mode.
