FQC is starting to really bother me

I can't understand why Riot is allowing it to keep its gold generation. Morello said a few weeks ago that he's fine with it being an option in the mid lane. This really, really bugs me. This item was made for supports. It should not be balanced with mid laners in mind, it should be balanced with supports in mind. An item like this is very, very volatile in balance. When you allow something to be popular in multiple distinct positions, it can very quickly get buffed or nerfed based on one, and become OP/garbage in another.

Currently for mid, it's a very cheap rush item that gives you a bit of everything: AP, mana regen, CDR, and easy gold generation. The PBE changes aren't really doing anything for that. It's still cheap, it still gives you a bit of everything, and the active is still useful throughout the game. I highly doubt that these changes will really fix anything. However, nerfing the gold generation by giving it the same cap as its predecessors will make it no longer cost effective for mid laners. It may still be on the strong side for supports, but that's why you made it just for supports, so you can make it balanced for them without needing to allow side builds.

I mean, if Lane Smite isn't a thing, Solo Lane Support really shouldn't.

I'm confused. What do you mean by a cap on the gold generation like its predecessors?
