Nasus vs. Vlad?

So I am playing on my smurf, and I keep getting matched up against a particular Vlad player who makes my games miserable.

I play Nasus, and early game all he does is harass with autoattacks and Q, and since it's all ranged he doesn't take minion aggro. What's worse it that he's a smurf so he doesn't push the lane, so I can't count on farming under turret. He just freezes lane mid and zones the hell out of me.

I can't build against him because there are no starter MR items and because of how hard he zones me it takes forever to get my item 3211. When I go in on him, he just kites me with AA+Q and lets his minions damage me while I chase him around. Then he heals back up.

I actually have an easier time dealing with Teemo, because at least I can outsustain him since he has none. There must be something i'm doing wrong, normally I prefer to learn through trial and error but this is getting out of hand and i'm tired of losing lane and ruining the game for all the other players on my team. I'm looking for any advice or criticism.

You are Nasus vs Vlad. You are in one of the few lanes Vlad DOESN'T lose, and Vlad WILL outscale you if he bullies you. Not really much to say; stay in experience range, Q minions you safely can, call for a jungler gank when it eventually pushes to tower and hope you can get a spectre's soon.

Damn, the situation is hopeless I guess. I usually don't have trouble vs Vlad, even as other melee champs. Also, What exactly is experience range, I have always wondered.

Last I knew, ~1000-1400.

Otherwise, most melees have gapclosers on a lower cooldown than Vlad's W, which makes Vlad easily dived and beaten up. Nasus doesn't have any gapclosing except W, and Vlad doesn't rely on attackspeed so can ignore most of it to continue hurting you. Overall it's a really bad lane for you.

Vlad is one of the many counters to Nasus. Just stay in xp range and eventually the wave will push under your tower. Stack the best you can from there. It'll also leave him open for ganks

Start Flask and HP pots or Doran's Shield. Hide in the bush and only come out to last hit minions. Don't bother chasing Vlad around because you will just take more damage and probably lose some CS. Just some MR won't do much good against Vlad as Nasus, tons of HP regen is more useful so you're able to sustain his harass and farm more. Try to rush a Spectre's Cowl and a couple Rejuvenation Beads, those along with a Flask/Doran's Shield and your passive should be enough to keep you healthy against Vlad. HP regen quints would probably be best too because that's an extra 97.2 HP per minute, which is way more useful in lane than HP/Armour/MR quints.

I wouldn't suggest starting Dorans Shield. It's far too expensive for the stats you get and will never give you the sustain of flask+pots

That's debatable. At the start, Flask + 3 HP pots is 810 extra HP, Shield + 1 HP pot is 230 + 72/min, so after the first 7 minutes of regen the Shield becomes more useful. After each recall, the Shield becomes more useful than Flask after 4 minutes of regen. This is all without considering the reduced 8 damage from auto attacks. If you normally would be attacked twice per CS, then the Shield would mitigate 12 or so attacks per wave, which is 96 extra HP per wave.

Geez, Nasus thought process and mechanix be so broad, I could go on forever Maybe If you had a really specific question I could narrow it down First pick Nasus here, so hear me out - w-

I do not build mr, yup.. theres no starting mr items you know why some mid laners take health runes? I interpreted it as, health is simply an efficient way of dealing with mages cuz fuq mr as such, my 2 starting items NEVER EVER HAVE TO CHANGE Start item 2041 duh At some point, I was actually utility Nasus, which you should consider. The perks of this is I could get early CDR, extra potion, MTHERFKING BISCUITS!!!!, and extra life steal and spell vamp.... then I reached the "git gud" stage and didnt need a flask and 4 biscuits anymore... and simpy invested in life steal quints and CDR runes First back item 3024 item 3067 , if you can afford only one, takeitem 3024 if against ad and item 3067 for the latter

I think it is your play style that is wrong, based on your story, I got the idea that you FOUGHT BACK... am I wrong? Not just against Vlad but you do it with Teemo as well? generally I never fight back why waste your time on them? why push the wave? why do anything but try and stay alive and farm trying to fight back just pushes the wave and causes you to needlessly take damage The ONLY champ I seriously fight back is against Poppy, cuz she's a shitty early champ that even Nasus can beat The ONLY reason I would fight at all would be to bait abilities Vlad has 3/4 AoE abilities, he just needs to use any one of them atleast idk once? twice? and the wave will push

It's hard to tell what else you might be doing wrong I approach just about every match up the same way, vayne, jayce, nidalee wutever i dont really care Step 1: test aggression In your case, it is established that your guy knows his shit and he's very aggressive, this is good Step 2: bait a ability that will push the lane In your case, either Vlad W or E is fine In most match ups, Nasus never really has to hit the other laner, therefore he wont take minion aggro The very act of walking toward the other laner 9/10 will invoke more aggression than normal I do this with alot of champions, especially Riven, I love beating Riven Step 2.5: you cant bait for shit? he has no AoE? are you matched up against Shen? well shit! dont worry the wave pushes it self if you dont do anything bout it Step 3: kay, gg, as long as I dont die like 4 times, I just won lane In this case, you didnt manage to get here lol

You just needa know the control panel for the minion wave The one most relevant here is that minions dont freeze it self dude, rather the wave CANT freeze UNLESS YOUR minion wave is LARGER than his minion wave OR your wave is healthier than HIS wave There's no way the wave just froze mid just like that See for yourself, go to a bot game and do nothing but last hit minions, the wave pushed didnt it? Exactly If you placed a ring of fire or took sufficient minion damage, that may have been enough to screw over your entire game

What else is there... right just as minions can block you, you can block minions If even a little, you can delay a caster minion or displace it just a smidgen Again test in bot games, there are cases where 1 wave out pushes the other DESPITE ZERO interference from ANY player Now you know the cause of that phenomena By the way... do you know that Gromp can damage/kill your minions? Maybe with some coordination from your jungler, you might just be able to pull it off

The most common Counter Nasus strat is to punish him Well shit man, logically you just wanna reduce the amount of times you go get CS Q stack + CS > CS The window for which Vlad can harm you is small and not frequent, he's also not bursty This is why I feel Vlad is not high a threat match up I would stay as healthy as possible and when my Q is off CD, I run up and get a stack 1 Q from Vlad is by no means anywhere near enough to scare me, I also got armor runes, idk if you got those but that really helps with AA which is a higher concern to me than his Q You got shit tons of potions for a reason, healing up after every confrontation is easy

For more advanced techniques, just count cooldowns "The calm AFTER the storm" applies to any champ, if he just used an ability, DONT PUSSY OUT he aint got SHIT on you bro, he aint fooling anyone, we all know its on CD.. he cant hurt you

Any other concerns?
