5 man melee quest does exactly what Riot said they wouldn't

Riot, when releasing quests, said they did not want to make quests reward players for doing things that would either A, be detrimental to the game (such as encouraging afk farming or troll picks) or B, would create unfun experiences. This new quest, play a 5 man melee comp, does exactly that. Sure, some people enjoy doing troll comps with friends however a lot of players don't. And forcing them to play a comp like this AND win to complete a quest like this seems absurd and against the values the team specifically stated at it's introduction.

if it's a team of PREMADE 5 people who are all trying to get the exact same mission done, then i dont think it's going to be that detrimental. I do agree with the concept of requiring PREMADES very unfun however.

Honestly, the fact that an all melee team comp is viewed as a troll comp says alot about how badly ranged DPS are balanced in this game...

Well ad morde isnt nessicarily a troll pick. But my biggest problem is i dont have 5 to play with lul. I just have irl friends who are never all on at the same time so this mission is more or less impossible sense i dont add tons of randoms

Don't do the mission if you don't want to. It has the lowest reward BY FAR and is probably not going to make or break getting whatever FREE reward you so desire that is already available to you from the mission pool you choose (not doing this mission isn't going to mean you won't get championship ashe without the pass since you ALREADY aren't getting her).
It is a premade 5 group meaning all 5 players are agreeing to do the mission. You signed up for it, don't complain. The ONLY problem with this sort of mission as stated below is you aren't NECESSARILY "mirror matching" the enemy team, but MMR is so skewed in the likes of blind pick chances are it doesn't matter what the enemy team plays if you are actually better than them you will probably still win no matter what.
These types of missions actually seem like real "quests" that you have to go out of your way for and are actually a GOOD thing in my eyes since if I don't like feeling "rewarded" by event missions when all the missions are "just play the game" in one sense or another. "Kill X Dragons." Great already planned on it...don't waste my time by telling me to do it. "Put down 5 wards". I am better than bronze XIII so I already planned on it. The other missions seem like arbitrary chores that will just get done with time while THESE types of missions have a set goal in mind that you can just complete if you so choose to.

It's weird, but i found the quest fun. But I also completed it once on the first try between 4 accounts. Playing Kled adc and zed mid bring a good lot of power. There's always strong things like leona blitz yasuo singed and all that, too. I acknowledge that it's against what riot said, but its a damn easy quest. possibly the first one i finished.

I want to agree with you, I really do. Unfortunately, after attempting this mission (and completing it on the first try) I think this is the wrong mission to complain about. The two things I worried the most about was getting a (1) 5 man premade together and (2) playing no range on a team against opponents with no such restriction.

Between two friends list, one person and myself, we added a third person, who was able to invite more... and it really wasn't that hard to get 5 people together.
Then, in this case, no range meant we had 5 tanky melee champs on one team. Sure, the yasuao ADC was slow, but with farming he became our late game dmg dealer. With 3 solid tanks around him, and a WW built for dmg, we won the game. Their squishier team couldn't put out enough dmg to over come our tanks, and they melted once WW and Yas got their hands on them.

I don't know how well this will work if they do a all range team, or all mage team, but it did work this time. This is a slippery slope and I hope Riot nips it in the bud before it goes bad.

I would like to speak to the contrary. I found this mission to be fun, because you really have to have fun and get creative to make it work. I had an absolute blast destroying an Ezreal/Sona bot lane with Taric and Leona, and it really allowed you to toy around with off meta approaches to things. Kayle, for instance, circumvents the mission because she can become ranged, much like Ivern. Galio, also is a fantastic pick because he also functions well with a good ranged poke. I found it fun because I knew I had to not take the game so seriously and work towards an odd goal.

The terrible part about this quest is getting 5 people to do it, some people don't have lists upon lists of friends to play with.

I really stopped caring about the missions after the first time they did it ( I think Yasuo/Riven stuff?) I mean at least then it was focused on trying to perform well in the game.

Just yesterday I had an adc, who wasn't a main adc (okay that's fine), who had never played Ashe (again fine), trying to complete a mission (Win as Ashe), but doing it in ranked......

These missions are detrimental to the game. Even if it was stuff like "Get so many objectives/kills/assists/etc in a game." Like it was with the Riven/Yasuo, I would constantly get people that would actively not end a game because they "Needed more kills for the mission and didn't want to play another game to do it." I wouldn't have a problem losing for that, if it wasn't in ranked....But throws were made.

Plus I REALLY hate getting notifications every day saying that there are new worlds missions. Can I please just turn them off? Can we please disable these missions for ranked game modes?

They can't make every mission appeal to all players. I do think they should greatly limit the amount of missions they put out that require full premades as i get not everyone has a big group like I do. I think the mission as a whole was great though and we had a lot of fun. You can do it without troll picks too. Top and jungle have plenty of melee choices. Mid you can go zed ekko etc. bot would be the weirdest pick with Morde but technically still in the right spot. We ran a Xin Panth bot and they destroyed.

For everyone out there who hates the current meta...

You think there wasn't an ulterior motive behind this quest? It encourages going exactly contrary to meta. You know, experimenting? Trying new things? Innovating? league has become rather stagnant in it's meta. Riot needs SOMETHING to address that, and this quest (while it may not be perfect) seems like one small thing among many to get players thinking about NEW play styles rather than the old beat-a-dead-horse compositions we're all used to.

All these people complaining about how hard this was... The amount of lee way it gives is insane, there are so many bot lane melee picks that work well . one game got trashed by darius j4 bot lane, one game smashed as yasuo, alistar, riven j4 and rammus.

its all about how you play the matchup.

Think its fine so long as people don't try an do these things in ranked. Also the specific mission is for a 5 man premade so as a group you'll be trying to achieve this.
