bronze: what to do against garen?

I can never win against garen. I played kayle and he just outsustained my harass until he built 1 tank item and TOOK 0 damage from me. He built pure tank and could easily kill me the entire game even when we were still even in cs and kills. At no point could I ever fight him or do any damage to him. He always just harassed me, i was forced to run away and he went back to the creeps waiting for cooldowns to harass again. He eventually would either just kill me with his ult or i would shield the ult and he would wait it out and just walk back under tower and kill me. He has so much speed and my slow and speed can never mitigate his harass.

He even walked into tower range and took like 4 shots at a time trying to do damage to me but missing entirely but it didn't do anything to him because he was so tanky. What am I supposed to do against him? Any counter I could play besides teemo? Any way kayle or maybe riven could fight him. Silence is also annoying af. His kit is just so good, waveclear aoe, speedup that seems to ignore slow and gives him crazy speed, a high damage attack that silences, unbelievable damage scaling while building 0 attack items and a true damage ult that scales off of your max health... so what am I supposed to do? I can't ban him because i think illaoi and darius are worse and because I get like first pick top

Outside of lane you can build void staff, but he can mess you up probably if no one peels him for you. I can't give you much advice for the lane because I don't know this matchup. ` Darius is a hard counter to Garen, Trundle should be but I dont know that matchup.

Kayle's early game can be taken advantage of, but that isn't to say she can't still win against Garen.

Number 1 tip I have for you is to use Kayle's Q AFTER Garen uses his Q. His Q removes all slows, so, if you use it before he uses his, he can easily catch up to you. Kayle can kite Garen around for days, due to the range on her E, and the movement speed buff on her W (and the slow on her Q). It'll be your job to keep him at arms length, and harass him whenever he tries to come close. Stick to your minions, and use your E to easily farm out of his range.

To counter his sustain, just slap him with an E auto every now and then. If you ever see a green glow around him, that means his passive is up, and his health regen is much higher than usual. This is turned off whenever he's in combat. If you hit him just once with your E every now and then, you'll keep his only form of sustain in check, allowing you to potentially poke and harass him out of lane.

If he ever uses his E to farm, thats when you should lay some damage on him. Most of Garen's damage is packed into his E, and against a Kayle, someone who could easily push him under tower, and keep him there, he should max it first. So, if you punish him whenever he uses it to farm, you could easily win lane.

Come mid to late game, there will be nothing he could do to match you.

As for Riven, I HIGHLY suggest never to play her against him. Garen is a very well known counter to Riven, simply due to his easy-to-apply silence screwing up her combos, and his general tankiness.

I would take Kayle into Garen. Here's the last match I did that in (also Bronze)
