Can we just kill the autofill already?

I think it's time to just get rid of autofill, at least for lower elos (Iron-Gold). It's annoying to have to go through 6 different champ selects before getting into a game because someone got autofilled and has no desire to play that role in the game. And I don't blame them. I queue up for two positions (Top/Mid), if I don't get them I'll ask someone if they're willing to switch. If they don't I dodge. I'm willing to wait 30 minutes if I have to to play the role I want to play. And it's not that I can't play the other roles but I have no interest in doing so for various reasons. Even more frustrating is getting people who complain about being autofilled and then won't dodge but state they're not going to try cause they have no interest in playing the game.

Listen I get it, you want to keep wait times low. But this doesn't really accomplish that because people just dodge anyway. Let people pick the roles they want to play and leave it at that. Whether it's 2 roles, 3 roles or all five. But autofill is just not player friendly and I think it's time for Riot to change this.

You are right we don't need autofill... just like we don't need to be able to choose what roles we want to play. You are playing ranked? You should be ready to play any role with some amount of mastery instead of cherry picking your roles

I really wish we didn't need it, but there isn't much choice. People still hate playing support and many will only do so if forced into it.

If your two roles are top/mid, I'd recommend going que with fill only. I get top from fills a lot more than support. It also removes the danger of autofill. Another way is ALWAYS being secondary mid, because picking Mid as a primary role is like a death sentence for your two desired roles. For some reason, being primary Mid seems to give you a lot higher chance of being autofilled. Also, top is competing with support in the contest for the most unwanted role, so being primary top has a REALLY high chances of success.

As for autofill as a system, I really don't know. As I said, I always main fill, so it never really affects me or my team. In my opinion, fillinf gives the game a small bit of excitement when you never know what your role will be. Sadly, autofill doesn't work that way, because the player getting autoflled most likely didn't want that same randomness to his games.

I think that there are two options: Either people will have to play more roles out of their own free will and autofill is no longer needed, or autofill will stay. I'd preferr the first a lot more.

not until you have removed the support role. As long at it exists it will bottleneck the system.

i hate as much as you do, but from what i heard, the queue time would go up 3 times
