League is being Competitively balanced around Casual Gamers? What?

Most people seems to agree that the introduction of dynamic queue, general 'watering down' of individual rank, and incentives to play with friends are all geared towards casual players. In every major patch though, Riot's motto seems to be "every choice you make could lose the game." With long death timers, specialty dragon buffs, snowbally itemization, and the idea that all champions should have clear niches to counterpick each other, there's almost no room for casual players in the actual gameplay.

If the target audience is supposed to be some sort of "casual tryhard", then it's no wonder there's so much salt in the league community.

there is a name for the "casual tryhard". It's called "rager".

Riot wants to make the game more accessible for as many people as possible which mean dumbing down everything to make it easy as possible so that even a newborn baby could reach challenger in 24 hours.

And I can sorta understand they want to do that because you need a casual base gamer if you want your game to succeed, but it's just they're doing it so much they take the fun out of learning the game and showing people who reached high tier are skilled enough to earn that rank.

You're not in challenger.

You're not in challenger.

Hyperbole. Do they not teach that in English anymore?

haha welcome to the idea that kills so many big games.

"Because you need a casual base gamer if you want your game to succeed"...

You don't need to make the game easy for the casual player, your just need to make it attractive to them. That doesn't mean gimping the game so that they can be good at the game with 0 time investment.

Which was my original point.

How is this new? it has always been like this, like morello stating that bringing invoker in league would bring a lot of burden of knowledge.

They're alienating a lot of the people who actually cared about ranked games and wanted an accurate ladder in order to bring people who didn't care for ranked. It would be like Clinton spurning her Democratic base in order to attract Trump voters. It doesn't make much sense to me and makes the game lose respect as a competitive endeavor since you can't directly compare players on the same ladder when every queue configuration is mixed together for a single ranking.

and still a vast majority or so, they want them to be called a majority of peoples, don't understand whats the point you just made in your comments, and blindly continue to defend the dynamicQ without knowing anything about ranked system.

If that's the case... Runes need to be removed. Masteries need to be buffed. Base stats per level need to be increased. All characters should start out with THE EXACT SAME stats at level one. All abilities need to be balanced to share the same power.

The Combat Triangle needs to be heavily altered and utilized here. Melee weak to mage, mage weak to range, range weak to melee.

Plain and simple. Counterplay? Psh. Build items that will heavily assist you in bringing down your weakness.

its actualy going this way, wait another year and see for yourself, just compare season 5 mastery vs this season and have a good laugh. They are going this way one lilttle step by lilttle step to try and keep more peoples in the game, when you finaly open your eyes and see what have become league, compare to what league was 3 years ago you be chocked how casual it has become. ffs they even added jungler timers you don't even have to keep numbers in your head anymore it was too hard for the majority of kids playing LOL.

Trust me...I'm very well aware. Been around since mid season 4.

It's scary... But! The removal of runes and balancing/buffing of masteries and all champs having equal stats = perfect. No more ELO's, no more Try-Hards (well, a huge abundance of them), and no more sniveling crybabies as you make em eat dirt/mud/grass/stone.

Let's be honest, how many people do you think are in the top tiers of ranked? Maybe what, 600 worldwide? Those numbers don't make particularly strong queue times, and with as few people as there are in higher ranking, things tend to stagnate. This is why the game is being made more accessible to the casual player, to breathe fresh life and to make ranked appealing so that the esports scent doesn't stagnate and wither.

There's a reason why not a lot of people are in high tier because it's made that way. If everyone can easily get challenger then what's so special about being in Challenger? That's like saying the Olympic should give out more gold medals to everyone instead of just first place a lone.

This is also what separate ranked from normal. Ranked is for people who take the game more seriously than others. Normal is there for casuals or if they wanted to fuck around in ranked with friends then there was ranked 5.

This game has always been made to be more accessible to casuals. It's just Riot take so many steps so far for casuals that it made the game not as fun anymore.
