Riot gives us a free skin for making it to level 9 on new accounts, but why does it have to be Ashe?

Why isn't it random? Or better yet, why does Riot give us 3 champions instead of just giving us champion shards and enough blue essence to unlock the champ shards if we so choose? What if we don't like Ashe Garen or Brand All 3 of those champs are available eventually through weekly rotation so why would we not be allowed to choose to spend the blue essence on different champions if we so choose?

Riot did this for a little known mechanic from hextech crafting, that allowed players to get one free skin for a new champion that they liked by owning only that champion and purchasing it first.

This mechanic was intentional. It is incredibly improbable that they could accidentally add a feature that would allow new players to get a guaranteed skin from the one free premium box that they gave us at level 5 before the rework.

I have no problems with Riot taking away this mechanic as they are a company and making money is their top priority, but the least they could do is admit that they give us champions and not blue essence specifically for that reason? There is no logical reason for riot to not give 450 blue essence for levels 2 and 3 and 3150 (the cost of Brand) at level 4 other than this one.

Would someone please prove me wrong? I want to think Riot isn't so petty that they would remove the one true piece of free loot in the hextech crafting system.

We get a free Ashe skin so we can show it off with our patented Thornmail Ashe we learned from the tutorials.

Shoot, I've been 30 for awhile, and I don't have brand. xD

Why are they giving new players brand and not something easier?

I'm pretty sure they give you those champions so actually new players who don't know anything about the game get champions that are easy to play.

They are all easy to learn champions, that's why they give them out at the early level. As for the skin, dunno.

What Ashe skin? [slayer-jinx-unamused]

I do not think we should be giving players a 450 champion when one chest can give you 2 of those. Instead I'd offer these champions.

For Marksman I would go with MissFortune Ezreal Tristana Varus

Probably the easiest of the bunch to get a grasp of and sets the player up nicely moving forward. Ezreal is just the ultimate teacher for stuff like skill shots, flash, etc. Tristana is the easiest of the bunch in my mind and also is cheap so Riot ain't breaking the bank there. MF and Varus teach a variety of different things but they are simple, and teach about team fighting well.

For Fighters my suggestions go out to Darius Poppy Pantheon

Poppy teaches you how to be a tank and allows some wiggle room for going fighter. Darius is a very easy pick and quite rewarding when you pick trades. I am worried he may be the wrong pick for beginners but any new top laner will find good success with it. Pantheon is another one that makes me worried because he is like Darius. However, I think he is just a cheaper man's Darius so it's a good option if Riot doesn't want to give out a larger price champ. Kind of difficult for fighters here since many of them are expensive and have issues.

Mages could be something along the lines of Karma Lux Xerath Ahri

All of these guys are straight forward, simple and teach any aspiring mid laner/mage player the fundamentals of the lane. Would rather see these champions than Brand. Though Brand is a fine options, feel these are good secondary choices.

Because if they do that they will miss out on money because nobody is going to spend money on sherwood Ashe, but someone might get lucky and get a skin for free that they were going to buy.

Rito pls stop the greed.

Ashe is viable. Garen is currently super strong. Brand carried me to gold in the last 2 days when 3v3 was full of tryhard platinum and diamond players going for the chroma.

A great selection for newbies I'd say. You also do get enough essence for 3 expensive champs.

The idea is to allow you to have 3 champions that are east to play that you've played a lot, most people already know what kind of role they will want to play based on what kind of champion they like. Giving you these three champions allows you to play a lot of games on them and learn them even after the new player rotation ends.

Most people will like one of the three champs enough to keep playing them.

As for the skin Ashe is a popular champion with many skins, Shea also somebody that has cheaper skins along with the fact that almost everybody plays her at some point or another she us a logical choice for a skin.

For the same reason Star Wars: Battlefront 2 gives 20k in-game currency for completing the single player campaign instead of unlocking you a 20k hero.

So you can waste it buying something else.
