What's the point of a ranked system in this game?

When your Diamond players play the same as silver players, and your grandmaster players run it down just as much as bronzes ask yourself the question.

Literally, have any of you'll who have supposedly 'escaped' low elo ever felt like you were rewarded for doing so? Is the matchmaking any better? Are your teamamtes any wiser? Or are you still playing the same shithole of a game which you'll have always aspired to climb out of?

There WAS a point to the ranked system, back when it took actual skill to play the game and your victory wasn't decided by how much you froth at the mouth. Seriously, even my wins feel like garbage.

It keeps the arrogant arseholes feeling either happy or outraged depending on what their real MMR is, and people expect it.

Not any different in any other game with matchmade teams and win/loss based ranking, of course. It cant be.

Oh, and you get a nice skin each year.

I love this game but Riot needs to take a step back and look at matchmaking/ranked system. I just made a post on this yesterday that made its way to the top of the gameplay boards. Its f'ing broken for some players. Forget about micro-patches, reworked champs that only matter in pro play, and crap item balances of 1-2 ap/ad that don't matter. Figure out a way to improve the matching/ranked system. Its just not as fun as it used to be for the average player. I truly fear for the future.

Ranked MMR influenced my normal MMR, that's why I play ranked. There's always assholes and stuff at every division, but my personal experience and feeling is that gold MMR has been the chillest MMR I've had. bronze/silv I feel like I've had higher odds of encountering people who were rude. while gold elo just feels good to be in, once its up to play I felt like I was back with laning with rude ass ADCs. Like I'm not saying everyone in those elos are rude or whatever just that I felt like I saw them more often.

This is a matter of relativity, when you start playing you see that your teammates are playing badly, but you miss a lot of their mistakes. The more you climb, the less mistake your teammates and opponents do, but the more you know about the game and you can spot more mistakes.

So it feels like whatever your elo, you see the same amount of stupid mistakes.

If you ever started a new account or climbed an account from bronze when your real elo is actually gold/plat+ you'll see that the reality is you will CRUSH your way out of the lower leagues. Exploiting obvious and ridiculous mistakes from your opponents.

Same as in any other game.

When your Diamond players play the same as silver players, and your grandmaster players run it down just as much as bronzes ask yourself the question.

Sure, I'll ask myself the question when that is true. But for now, it's not true, so I won't.

Literally, have any of you'll who have supposedly 'escaped' low elo ever felt like you were rewarded for doing so?

Yes, because....

Is the matchmaking any better?

... no, but...

Are your teamamtes any wiser?

... yes, definitely.

coming from a level 7 account with elo so low that he wont post it on his main cause he will get eloshamed. :(

Slythion9/10/2019, 5:00:58 PM1 votes

Wait, are you trying to make the argument that bronze players are the same as master players, and vice-versa?

Uraraka9/10/2019, 6:03:48 PM1 votes

Ranked system should be renamed as RNG system (for all modes I guess) [sg-ahri-2]

Malix Farwin9/10/2019, 6:34:58 PM1 votes

ranked is bork'd till reset

Sowizardhologram9/10/2019, 7:17:09 PM1 votes

I wish to say that while players are at different levels, they will mostly play the same. After all, mistakes are inevitable. From what I see from the rank system is consistency. Yes, a grandmaster player will be better than bronze, but they will overall do similar mistakes the bronze player does.

The rank system is a joke in general. The main point is to have you grind the game. Sure, you can improve on the game and find fun in it. Suspecting a very competitive experience? Likely not.

What's the point when the amount of trolls are so abundant and smurfing is allowed? Smurfing is the anti-thesis to the entire ranked system. Not to mention the worst match making of any game I can recall, giving out EA quality match making in most cases.

KnightLakega9/10/2019, 10:42:45 PM1 votes

You're all missing the point.. The skill of the players are different, but the games play EXACTLY The same, because even at high high elo people forget what this game is... Top getting constantly ganked, no help from jungler? Getting dove? Obviously the top lane sucks, gg, mass report as troll and run it down mid...

That happens at every elo WAAAAAAY too often..

The mentality of the players to tilt on the smallest stuff, refuse to help teammates, and trash each other is what destroys this game, especially ranked, and yes, that happens constantly at every elo.

MasterDClone9/10/2019, 10:46:30 PM1 votes

why does it have to be escaped, i find myself win more games the higher elo i go because as a jgler the people react more to their minimaps, understand wave management and matchups, there definitely are a clear skill difference lol

Some of y'all never had to rely on a player honor system for MM and it shows.

OneMustFall9/11/2019, 12:44:02 AM1 votes

You'll always think you're better than the elo you're in. In every single competitive team game ever. It's always your teammates holding you down, never yourself.

1 year ago i hit PLAT for the first time ever. I grinded everyday. then i hit plat 3..then 2 then 1.... THEN I HAD THE WORST GAMES OF MY LIFE. EVERY SINGLE GAME I GOT INTO SOMEONE WAS TROLLING OR RUNNING IT DOWN MID. THEY WOULD LEGIT SAY IDC. I AM PLAT ALREADY NO REASON TO GRIND. AFTER I FELL BACK DOWN TO PLAT 3 I STOPPED PLAYING RANKED. NOW I NO LOGNER GO OVER GOLD AS SOO NAS I HIT GOLD I STOP PLAYIGN RANKED. I stressed myself out way to muchjust for a colored border

xelaker9/11/2019, 6:31:50 PM1 votes

There is 100% a difference between every few ranks. Mid to high gold feels way different than low silver. I play with a friend in silver 4 and am sitting in gold 3 right now and the silver players definitely aren't playing the game as well in a large majority of cases. This is all assuming that they are trying to win and not faffing about being a troll or trying to stay in low elo to stomp.

KALIIS9/10/2019, 10:57:56 AM1 votes

i can tell you that people bought those accounts, or hacked account for sale, or using someones acccounts, boosting services you can see that from their plays. i see them dont even take the correct summoners sometimes. all the hardcore players have either stop playing or quit, left infested with bad players and trolls. "people who dont climb there themselves dont know how much effort it takes."

Handy Sandy 9/10/2019, 12:08:43 PM1 votes

why does there have to be a reward? there isn't and never was. You climb for the sake of climbing.

there are less AFKs the higher the elo you go up, though.

Cat on Roids v29/10/2019, 12:26:27 PM1 votes

The only reward you get for beeing high rank is making money out of dummies.

ΛrπζrιΠ9/10/2019, 12:47:22 PM1 votes

You don't know? When you reach challenger, RIOT gives you a nice car, a beautiful bride, and a gaming house. Or so i heard. Or maybe it's a backpack for you to start an even more rewarding journey called real life.

Darkdemon6539/10/2019, 3:54:13 PM1 votes

Yes, one's teammates are better as one climbs. But it's important to realize that one's opponents are also better, so the same results are going to happen.

Power Cosmic9/10/2019, 4:35:42 PM1 votes

There is this saying I've heard related to LoL: "If everyone is good, than no one is".
