You don't pick Vaurs to be a Discount Kogmaw. You pick Varus to do poke, dps, and sustained burst. Kog only does dps.

because kog doubles his attack speed meaning he can stack it just as fast as a melee champion. also increases his range to be safe while stacking meanwhile varus range is low and he same as kog has no mobility.
