For Context, I'm asking that if you've earned every possible chest, each week, and you play quite frequently, is it possible for you to earn enough key fragments to completely empty that supply, or do you HAVE to pay for the extras?
GaleWinUnleashed2 votesIt's entirely possible. Up until the last 2 weeks or so, I'd been earning every possible chest, along with enough keys to open all of them. Recently I've been spending time on other games (namely Borderlands: the Pre-Sequel and Rocket League), so I've fallen behind on key fragments, but even before that I was playing only 4-8 games a day.
DorkunedAuras1 votesI play a lot and very regularly, and I have 3 chests stored up. I haven't gotten key fragments in quite a while, like it didn't reset at the month.
I just don't like the sheer RNG of the system where if I'm unlucky I don't get stuff. and yes, I play in a good size premade frequently.
GaleWinUnleashed1 votesI play largely ARAM, mostly by myself, unless I happen to have the motivation for a couple of ranked games. Until the rotating modes come up, when most of my buddies get on and we can all screw around and have a blast.
DorkunedAuras1 votesI play about an even mix between ARAM and normal SR. I occasionally ranked when I feel like losing faith in humanity, and i play the featured gamemodes. Most of these games, outside of ranked which is solo/duo, I do with premades of 3-5 (even got 6 in hexa)

Sohleks1 votesSo I have been keeping track of my key frags closely the past few weeks. Last month was the first month for me I was able to obtain 12-13 keyfrags (possible I earned a keyfrag from the previous month just before the reset, or I got an extra one from a bug when hextech crafting had to be rebooted for unexpected maintenance last week). The cap per 30 days is supposed to be 12 keyfrags. I have ceased earning any keyfrags since I logged 13 despite a dozen plus wins. I counted the number of victories I had in my match history between my last keyfrag and the first one last month and it was about 60 VICTORIES. Half of those were duo queue ranked. Most of the other half was solo aram. I believe my keyfrag date reset is about the 10th of July (it is supposed to be every 30 actual days, but I suspect it could also be 24 or 28 days too)
Yes it is supposed to be possible to keep up in keys with your box acquisition. But if you fall behind and your keys reset there's no free way to catch back up unless you stop getting boxes at maximum rate too. Currently I figure it takes a little over 60 wins to get 12 key frags a month; with a 50% winrate that's 120 games, which is 4 games a day. Luckily last month I play more than usual and had a strong winrate.
The first 6 keys are easy. You can get them in about 12 wins or so. The first 3 come almost in 5 measily wins.
DorkunedAuras1 votesI log about 2/3 as many games as you, but you do play a LOT. I do think you should be able to catch up if the RNG screws you over one month.
Sohleks1 votesI STARTED playing a ton lately. Not so much in previous months; so I was only able to get 9 a month at most.
Next month I will take more specific tallies on when I get each key.
