Give Yorick some love

I've been playing Yorick since his rework and absolutely love him. I have played him from Bronze III to Silver 1 and I'm continuing to climb. Overall, I think he is fairly balanced in lower brackets but I'm running into problems with him as I move up and my opponents understand his mechanics. My main issue is the lack of responsiveness between his Mistwalkers and Mourning Mist. Yorick needs more "bang for his buck" when he successfully lands Mourning Mist and I'd like to see it become a little less predictable (players generally know its getting cast right after using awakening). My suggestions are geared to increase the aggro radius of the mark on the mistwalkers so that my opponents need to do more than take 3 steps backward to avoid the wrath of the walkers. The aggro radius is horrendously small and feels like its out ranged by several ADC's auto attacks. Furthermore Mourning Mist is a small hit box and slow projectile so it's completely dodgeable to boot. This would allow Yorick to be a little bit more competitive against ranged characters and would feel infinitely less glitchy. I'm a little biased and think Yorick needs a couple of other tweaks aswell, but I"m a little biased. Here are my thoughts:

  1. Triple the aggro radius of the Mistwalkers and the Mark from Mourning Mist, so Yorick can do things like chase. Or take some damage from the Mistwalkers and add some damage to his "Q" so he can at least finish an escaping opponent with a 1/4 health.
  2. Increase the radius before graves are destroyed so I don't have to sacrifice graves to ward.
  3. Let the graves "cycle" by eliminating the oldest one whenever a new one would spawn so I don't get stuck in the awkward position of having to cross minion line to activate awakening. This would give Yorick more flexibility with changes in where the minion waves are and would allow for more strategic gameplay.
  4. Increase the survival radius for Mistwalkers so I don't have to sacrifice my Mistwalkers to ward.
  5. Have Leap count as an auto attack or increase the run speed of mist walkers (or tie their speed to Yoricks so they get faster with boots) (This is my wish list item).

Bottomline is it just takes so little mobility or range to make Yorick completely helpless in lane. Give him some love for landing a semi difficult skill shot and don't make him feel penalized for doing completely necessary things like warding. Yorick's overalll win rate is also pretty low so it's okay to give him a small buff.

Its always sad when you outrun your Mist Walkers, and they die trying to follow you.

My post regarding Yowick got downvoted to hell! people just dont understand his true problems. Which the main one is his power being too situational.

Another Yorick player here. Don't know if they are going to touch Yorick atm - given the problems with rebalancing Camille, Leblanc, etc. after their "unveilings"- along with the upcoming reworks on Galio, Aatrox, the tank group generally, etc. In other words, given that the big Y was reworked recently, and didn't seem "broken" (in the "op"-sense), any tinkering involving him is probably on the back burner.

So, yes, I would like to see him given a buff or two. But that being said, his winrate is right in the middle of the pack (ranging from about 50% to 55% depending on which website you go with). Also, IMHO, his biggest problem is that because he is "non-meta", there is a lack of experimentation with his play and builds. As a result, alternative ideas are less likely to be tried with him in higher level ranked play - and it is less likely that successful ideas will trickle down from the upper tiers. Consequently, the builds and ideas relating to him atm are a bit stagnant - sort of where Wukong was for a good long while...

Well Yoricks entire gimmick in lane is to QWE his opponents and then beat them to death. He also is a Juggernaut meaning him being able to chase someone would be like allowing Garen to jump over walls. What Yorick needs more is being able to control his ghouls and Maiden more since they preety much are 50% of his power and not being able to control it is like playing Ryze but the location in wich you teleport is completely random and can only be affected by using a spell.

They rework a boring champion to a boring champion, makes sense?

Last site I was on gave him a 40% win rate and that's what I'm basing my conclusion on. I actually have some faith that he will see some love here soon. There is always an adjustment period for a rework regardless of whether they go to "Meta" or not. I've actually had quite a bit of luck with my suggestions and them getting implemented a month or so later, so I believe Riot does read my posts, either that or I just think like the league gods. All I can do is pray that they hear the pleas of this one Yorick player praying for some well deserved tweaking. I think the lack of control over the minions is in line with his playstyle "These souls act on their own." And my suggestions don't give him any "better" ability to catch an opponent, they ensure he doesn't get beat by a character who he just outplayed, it allows him to "finish."
