How Do I Carry This?

I'm stuck. I'm confused. I'm itemizing correctly. I just can't win this game, or any games. I'm trying my best. I just can't blame myself for this loss. There's nothing I could have done better. Why does support feel like you work so hard, but you lose?

Ban yi. What were you doing in fights? Game looks pretty even at that point in time. As janna you're pretty much in charge of keeping that yi off the back and stopping kat as soon as she goes in. Were you doing those things?

Yes, I was. I did everything I could do. I ulted immediately when Yi and Katarina went in.

If you ask the question: "How Do I Carry This?" you already have assumption that you are better than anybody else in match. Is that true though? What ability you have that other don't. Superior mechanics? Superior knowledge? mindset? decision making? emotional discipline?

People look for answers on questions that are not important, or put emphasis on stuff that is not important on their elo. Why people dont climb is usually because they just lack knowledge, don't have foresight, map awareness, lack of emotional discipline and generally lack of fundamentals. People put A LOT of emphasis on champion mechanics, flashy plays, but are totally oblivious to basics of the game dynamic. Playing high mechanical champs like zed, yasuo, ezrael, instead of playing something plain and simple and focusing on learning the game. Please note that I am speaking generally, not directed to you.

It's because I know I'm better than pretty much everyone in my elo. I was a much higher elo last season, and have played support on teams with platinum and diamond players. Due to playing my provisional games early, I was put in bronze 3 and I am currently bronze 1. The way I see things, yes someone can lose lane; however, no that isn't an excuse for feeding. Typically when I play a solo lane, if I try to kill my laner and end up dying in the process, I'm not going to try that again until my jungler comes to gank, or if my champion hits a powerspike.

To be honest, their Katarina was a really good player. Definitely should have been gold last season, minimum.

In my personal opinion, the reason I think I was a better player than my teammates is that I know I have a fundamental understanding of the game, and what I believe to be common sense.

The main reason I play support is because it is a difficult role for low elo players, and I believe it's where I can use my skills best. I have yet to run into a support who I believe to be better than me that is in a similar elo. I can also play AD Carry very well, due to my experience in playing in the bottom lane for so long.

you would have been better off with banner of command. Cho does magic damage, kat does magic damage, leona does magic damage, and even ezreal does magic damage. hell, even yi is doing magic damage with devourer.

malz should have probably dumped ROA and gotten unholy grial for the regen and cdr, and then an abyssal scepter for more MR and synergy.

jayce should have gotten black cleaver over lord dominik's regards

imo lucian should have gotten triforce instead of RFC, though this one varies more with preference and playstyle

other than that the rest looks ok, though xin looks like he's a bit thirsty.

Honestly one part of this is to look at the draft. You really don't have a tanky champion to absorb burst damage. You also lack immediate hard CC besides ultimates on Janna, Xin, and Malz; (Janna tornado needs to be cast twice, Xin "2" talon strike is delayed, and Jayce knockback is dependent on him being in hammer form). Now ultimately, this shouldn't be too big of an issue besides that they have 2 reset assassin type champions on their team and the fact that the champions who can stop Kat's ult or a charging Master Yi are fairly squishy. They (Yi and Kat) can snowball very hard if given the chance, and because they were not kept in check, they were able to hard carry the game.

If you notice something else, a lack of pink wards plagued both teams and though the amount of wards your team placed was higher than your opponents, clearing wards took a lot less priority. Denying vision can be just as important as gaining vision and because Pink Wards are so cheap right now and are the only wards you can actually buy (Sightstone might count), so it would be advised to get them when you can.

It probably does feel a lot harder to carry as a support, but a big part of playing as these supportive roles in games is to help your team and empower them. Another word for this is carrying by proxy. This stretches beyond just putting a shield on your AD or warding tri-bush, but communicating with your team and making sure that everything is going according to your team's goal to win the game. Now, this is where it gets tricky because it is SOLO queue and it's hard to communicate with complete strangers, but it can be done to some extent. People seem to hate the "ping" system in the game, but it does do wonders as long as people don't spam it and piss off their teammates. There will be times when people don't listen to you, but if you stay respectful, you will have a lot more people who will be willing to work with you. If this leadership position doesn't really suit you, think about maining a different role that you can "carry" with: Top, Mid, or Bot ADC (jungle is possible, but takes on a large supportive role).
